Coaxial/SPDIF audio connections from Dish or Direct?

First time back since we were Voomers back in May 2005! Looking to get back into satellite TV. Our old Voom STB and its Samsung replacement both have audio outs via coxial/SPDIF which have worked great for OTA reception. Can't find info on Direct STBs in the form of a pic of the back to...

PQ on VOOM tonight...is it just...

us or has the PQ gotten better on some of the VOOM 21? A short time ago we watched the African Garden of Eden on Equator and the PQ was right up there with the best we've ever seen. Each hair of the lions stood out separately and the color satuation seemed right on the money. Browsed through...

Current Phone # for VOOM CSRs?

Just tried calling the old 1-800-GetVOOM # and just got the automated message about VOOM ceasing transmission April 30th but no way to speak to a CSR. Trying to find out the status of our billing-have not received any for April/May-and see on another thread that some people are losing service...

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King on Starz 261

Just finished watching. This was the most stunning movie we have yet seen here at home! The PQ was just amazing. We saw the movie when it first hit Seattle and except for absolute blacks this had it beat (we have a SimSeleco DLP). Of course, seeing it only 15 ft. away helps. And this off of...

Need info from current or former D* & E*...

subscribers. Can you tell me who these providers use to do their installations? Yes, I know some of you have done your own. However, if you don't do your own does a "local installer" do the install or does Dish and Direct roll their own trucks? The reason I'm asking the question is we're...

Installs, Inc. still doesn't have it's act together or...

failure to upgrade to a 24" antenna on 3 "scheduled appointments". I'll try to be evenhanded about this but having dealt with Installs, Inc. for almost a year--we've had VOOM since Dec. last year--it will be a bit difficult. On 11-18 scheduled an upgrade to a 24" antenna after experiencing...

Looks like DirecTV has a sat ready to compete...

with VOOM right now: DirecTV's Last Broadband Gasp 'Spaceway' sats not for broadband DirecTV has announced that the company will be facing a $1.6 billion charge, since they've decided to use their "Spaceway" Ka-band satellites for HDTV and other content, and not broadband service. When the...

New advertising or there might be hope for VOOM!

Received Nov/Dec issue of The Perfect Vision yesterday which included a "center fold" (read: insert) with a VOOM "interactive CD" which introduces potential customers (and current VOOM subscribers) to the wonders of VOOM and directs one to their website to sign up, of course. Hey, they are...

Posting dates-Scott, can you tell me how...

to translate the dates on the posts? Other than "yesterday" and "today" the dates make no sense to me but I'll bet you have purpose in your madness. Watching VOOM HDTV in a mostly cloudy Seattle, Gill

VOOM has pages of ads in May Sound&Vision

In a special section "Guide to HDTV" VOOM has ads 2/5 across the bottom of 3 sets of 2 pages as well as a full page ad just after the final page of this special section. Some out of date into in the "Satellite Services" section and some old info about STARZ! and SHOWTIME on the full page ad but...

    Deadwood on HBOHD last Sunday

Briefly, this is a Western set in Deadwood just after gold was discovered. Now this is a Western like none I've seen before and I've been around long enough to have seen a bunch. Loved it. Of course, it was and is in HD! This is why we have HDTV. Watching HDTV under rainy Seattle skies, Gill
