OTHER If your receiver only supports saving recordings to an external drive and not over a local network, this might show a workaround

I stumbled across this today and it reminded me that when I got my first satellite receiver with PVR capability, it would only save files to an attached external drive, but it had no ethernet jack nor any other way to connect to the Internet. Even firmware updates had to be copied to a USB...

Anyone else having problems getting CBS feed on G19 (97°W) 4080V?

I know this is a difficult signal to receive in any case because it is 16APSK and 4:2:2, so not all equipment can receive it, but I'm asking because it has always been fairly reliable and we can't get a good OTA signal on CBS. But last night and tonight there has been no signal there at...

The CW, again - I thought it was moving from 91 W to 93 W but today it was only on 91 W?

I thought the CW was supposed to be moving from 91 W to 93 W, so I tried to move my 91 dish to 93 today and got zilch on 4109H 15000 SR (using the settings on Lyngsat's page for G35). This was between 2 and 3 PM Eastern this afternoon. Has anyone else had a problem getting them during the...

    The CW MIA?

Anyone know of any reason the CW feed on G19 4080V is now showing nothing but tone and bars during the primetime hours? There are six channels on that mux and the first two were still showing what they were supposed to be showing but the "C" through "F" channels are all tone and bars. I...

What happened to the eyeball network feeds on 97°W 4100H and 89°W 3880V?

Last night I only got color bars on 97°W and 89°W was completely gone, today they both seem to be gone. Have these moved to a new location and if so can anyone receive it reliably? If you can could you please pass along the settings that are working for you? Before anyone mentions it, I am...

ABC secondary feed moving from G16 to G19 starting this week (dual illumination until 9/30/22)

Saw this tonight... If anyone knows the exact frequency, SR, FEC, etc. of the G19 feeds please post them (it says the polarity is vertical, so we know that at least). Also, I never realized this was considered "secondary" distribution; I wonder where the primary is?

Is BYU still on G17 (91°W)?

Lyngsat still shows it at 3925 V but for some reason it's not coming in now. I read in WUT that they had put up a transponder on Ku, so I am wondering if that was intended to replace the C-band feed, or if perhaps the C-band feed was moved due to the repack and Lyngsat just hasn't caught up...

Anyone else having problems with SES-11(105°W) muxes?

For years now one of the most reliable muxesfor me has been the one on 3780H on SES-11. Well all of a sudden last night (Friday night) nothing would come in, starting with the 6:30 PM network news from the East feed and continuing through prime time. Then this morning it was back and playing...

"Dark Friday" sale on German-made tuners (Digital Devices)

For those that might be interested in getting a tuner card made by a German company rather than a Chinese one (though I have no idea where they get their parts), I got an email this morning that says this (English version): It is time again for... [DARK FRIDAY] From 27th - 29th November 2020...

The 3000 watt FM radio station that straddles the USA/Canada border and not licensed by the FCC or CRTC

New 4 input(?) tuner card supports DVB-S2X

I'm not spending any more money on satellite equipment until I see what happens to C-band, but if I were going to buy a new PC tuner card today I might consider this one, particularly if I could buy it from a North American seller: 8 Tuner TV Card - DD Max SX8 Basic (4/8) - DVB-S2/DVB-S2X Full...

New generation of dish coatings possible?

I just came across this article and my first thought was, if they bring this to market and it's not too expensive is might make an ideal coating for dishes to make ice/snow removal easier. Self-healing waterproof coating stays dry for the long term I hate it when you get a heavy, slushy snow...

Is Galaxy 16 at 99°W getting weaker or near its end of life?

I only ask this because for years I've had a 7½ foot dish pointed at 99°W and never had any problems receiving anything from it until sometime around the middle of last year, then I started losing the weaker signals on that bird, although the big major network on that satellite still came in...

Muskegon, Michigan TV station for sale

From mlive.com: Muskegon TV station for sale, owner retiring after 40-plus years in broadcast The article pretty much tells the story but there are a couple of additional points any potential buyer should know. First, the station has (in my opinion) a history of carrying crap programming in...

Aiming and peaking a C-band LNB - more guesswork than science?

To me the most mysterious part of setting up a new dish is peaking the LNB. I read a lot of posts where people say that you have to aim the LNB precisely at the center of the dish, and that it should be an exact distance from the center. But this gets complicated by several factors that to me...

Any suggestions for fixing a rusty rim? Or is this dish even worth saving?

The story on this is that about a year ago I was driving by a house and happened to spot a big 10 foot C-band mesh dish in the backyard that looked (from the road) to be in halfway decent shape, so I stopped and knocked on the door but no one was home. So I left a note in the door basically...

In North America? Run crazyscan? Could you please take a screenshot?

If you want to know why I need this please see this post in another thread, where it is buried and kind of off-topic: http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/posts/3922631/ The gist of it is that if some kind person that runs crazyscan could run it on Galaxy 19 (97°W), 3980H, and post a screen capture...

This thing would be very useful to many of us satellite enthusiasts!

Has anyone had problems with a C-band LNB acting up in cold temperatures?

I'm having kind of a weird issue and I'm not sure if the problem is with the LNB's or what. I have more than one C-band dish, each fixed on a specific satellite, and each has a dual LNB. The LNB's are of two different brands. One is an older model, which just so happens to be on my smallest...

Would this dish be worth rescuing if I can get it?

Today as I was driving home I glanced down a side street and just happened to see this dish right out in the front yard. As you can see, the lowermost five panels are badly damaged and what is worse, it looks like the damage was deliberate. It's not being used because the wires are going...
