Showtime East and West the same?

I noticed that my guide shows the same programming on sho-e (318) and sho-w (319). It's been that way for several days now. Anyone know what's up?

Simulating "jump back" after Fast Forwarding

I may be the last person here to think of this but I've found it so useful that I have to post it. I've just come back to Dish after a two year stint with Directv (and a 2 month stint with Uverse). During that time I got use to the DVR automatically jumping back a bit after I transition from...

Free Dish for the first 200 people (Houston)

I saw a full page ad in the Houston Chronicle yesterday that Dish will be at a local resturant today (Tuesday) between 11 and 2. The first two hundred to apply will get free service for one year. This includes HD and a DVR. I assume this is a marketing program being done in major cities. Who...

    HR21, grounding and SW hum

I've just reconfigured my system to run all components via HDMI into a new A/V receiver. My Subwoofer was a hum now. I tried unplugging various cables and find that it's the satellite receiver causing the hum. If I unplug both coax cables, the hum stops. I've check the outside and both...

    Forgot to Register for CES

Somehow I forgot to register CES this year. Now the only option is on-site registration for $200?!? This is my own dumb mistake, but any suggestions on alternatives would be appreciated! Robbin

Netflix - has anyone received an extra Disc?

Last month Netflix announced a change in how they handle the situation if your top choice isn't available -- they ship the next disc and will send the top choice when available without counting it against your total. Netflix Tries to Quiet Angry Blu-ray Subs? Any anyone had this actually...

Phillips 5990 does show JPG full screen

I'm trying so display JPG images on a CD using the Phillips 5990 DVD player. I have resized the images to be 1920x1080 to match the TV resolution. I'm outputing via HDMI at 1080 (set to 1080p but TV shows 1080i for image viewing). The images don't fill the screen. I end up with black bars on...

    Free Starz for Hurricane Ike

I received a flyer from Directv in mail indicating that I would get Starz for 3 months free, starting November 1st. "We offer you 3 FREE months of Starz as a token of our support and gratitude. We hope this makes your difficult time just a bit easier to handle." I hadn't heard that this...

Trouble getting the $23 a month credit

I'm a new customer and when I tried to redeem the $23 credit that was advertised, I was told that I'm only eligible for $18 per month. Happily I have an e-mail that indicates that I am to get $23. They have processed the $18 and escalated the missing $5 to a higher level. Hopefully they will...

Will installer do a wall mount?

Will installer do a sat dish wall mount on brick? I'm scheduled for a new install on Monday. I'd like to avoid my roof and have the dish installed on a brick wall that I know has good line of sight (similar location to my existing Dishnetwork equipment). Will the installer do this and will...

Cost to replace a leased 622 out of warranty?

As the one year warranty on my 622 ends, I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting the $5.99 service plan. What does Dish charge to replace a failed 622 that is leased but out of warranty? I've had the HD fail to spin up serveral times so I tend to think I'm going to see a failure at...

    HD-DVD #1 player at Amazon!

Thanks to the heavy promotion and rebate (discussed in other threads), this article states that the Toshiba HD-A2 not only outsold any Blu-Ray player but any DVD player at Amazon.com over the Memorial Day weekend. The beginning of a trend? http://www.videobusiness.com/article/CA6447181.html

Houston has OTA HD subchannel guide data

When did Dish start publishing guide data for the HD subchannels? I just noticed that I have program information for my OTA PBS HD feed plus all the secondary channels for the networks. Cool! I must have missed an annoucement somewhere along the line.

    LG BH100 (Blu-ray/HD-DVD) - Avoid!

Well, I was warned. I got my shiny new LG Blu-ray/HD-DVD player today. It plays DVD and Blu-ray great. But HD-DVD? I'm shocked at the minimal support provided! I knew it didn't support HDi but I didn't realize that would mean no disc provided menus at all. For HD-DVD the player generates...

    LG Dual Player Shipping?

Engagethd.com has reported that the LG BH100 has been seen at a few CompUSA stores. I just ordered one from BestBuy.com. They estimate an arrival date of 1/24/07. We will see!

    622 - Use 999 to advance guide

I miss the ability to enter 168 to move forward one week in the guide. At some point 99 hours became the highest I could enter. I just acidentally entered 999 and then the skip forward key. It accepted this and moved to the very end of the guide. I guess skip forward 7 times isn't that...

3.63:Can only skip forward 99 on guide

Since I got the new release I notice that I can only go forward by 99 hours at a time while in the guide. Before this release I could go forward a full week (169) or more. Now any 3 digit combination doesn't stay on the screen long enough to be able to press skip forward. Feature or bug?

Houston: Are you having audio sync issues with ABC?

I posted a while back about a problem on ABC but I've now watched live/recorded several programs on Houston channel 13 using either OTA or HD SAT and none have had the audio and video in sync. Sometimes just a bit off, sometimes by a full second or more. It's like watching a bad Japanese film...

Audio sync issue on 622 or just ABC on Sunday?

My shiny new 622 recorded Grey's Anatomy Sunday night with the audio about 1 second out of sync with the video. This is in Houston TX. I used to have sync issues with the 942 but I've also seen audio problems with the local ABC station here. So I'm not sure where the problem might have been...

HD Promo for existing HD pack customer?

I signed up for the Voom channels on Saturday. I already have the existing HD package. I've noticed a $5 credit on my account called "HD Promo." I assume this means I get Voom free for 6 months? I would have thought that the 6 month free promo was for new HD subscribers only.

Moving 148 dish to 61.5 - can't find the sat!

For some reason I can't find a signal from 61.5 when I attempt to repoint my dish that was originally installed for must carry at 148. I can go back and find 148 without any problem. There is structure in that direction of 61.5 but according to the dish point screen, my elevation is 40 deg --...

    Orbitsat.com now Dish/Voom only?

This may be old news, but I just visited orbitsat.com and see that they've stopped carrying DirecTv. Someone over there must be pretty unhappy. They really let DirecTv have it! http://dtv.orbitsat.com/DIRECTVNOTICE.asp?referer=NOTICE_DTV_HP

    921 "in-stock?"

I see that orbitsat.com's web site is listing the 921 as "in-stock." Have the flood gates of 921 production opened at last or does orbitsat.com define "in-stock" at bit differently than most?

A UPS Tracking Number at Last!

I got a UPS tracking number from Dishdepot on my 921! Oh happy day! My 6+ month wait will soon be over. I can't wait to set it up and post my first thread with regard to how unhappy I am with the unit. I can finally join the ranks of the bleeding edge. :) Maybe some of this "June"...

I thought Tivo had Name based recording patented?

I was under the impressed that Tivo "owned" the rights to name based recording. That's what Charlie always said when asked about why Dish wasn't doing it. What has changed? Has there been a deal with a company that has rights to do this (like Microsoft/Dishplayer)? Or is a massive lawsuit coming...
