Any way to see what's on next on a DirecTivo (without opening the guide) like you can on the DishPVRs?

I just made the switch from Dish to DirecTV and the SD-DVR40 Tivo. Why no power button on the remote? Am I supposed to leave this thing on 24/7? Oh, and do the Tivos have any sort of 30-sec. jump forward or back feature like the Dish PVRs?
