I know there has been threads concerning the sling 300, which is a solution that is tailored to Dish, but i was wondering if anyone at CES saw some non specific solutions to hd video/audio transmission. My new house is comepletely wired with multiple cat 5e outputs in every room but the...

Once again Sony is out to screw

I was reading the announcement of WUSB and found this related article. First the screw job with HD-DVD (that was finalized first) and now another possible war in another area. Sony gets more and more evil by the minute in my book..... See the link.... Battle brewing over eliminating...

The second format war as if BD & HD-DVD weren't bad enough

Well folks I have been looking to get a bigger monitor lately and have been doing some research. I am down to two categories. The 27 inch class and the 30 inch class. The 30inch class you'd think would be a obvious winner but if you look closely you'll find some serious problems. The first...

gentle reminder for vista/zone alarm use

Just a gentle reminder that Zone alarm has now published it's free vista compatible firewall. I only point this out because at the time of this writing there are very few compatible vista firewalls. Yes, I know vista has it's own, but MS's track record in the firewall department is spotty at best.

I just beat the HDCP obstacle tonight!!!!! clean version

Sorry folks, i've been drinking and this is the second thread on this topic. The last (which was promptly deleted by the admins) contained a fair amount of profanity toward jack valenti, the MPAA, and the RIAA (but I digress). Now, for the heart of the matter (it's the little victories that...

A conflict of interest for telephone company marketing of dish and directv?

Now that AT&T has officially announced the buyout of bellsouth (thank god, cause bellsouth sucked IMO), I am wondering now how this will play out with the sat marketing since SBC promoted dish leasing and Bellsouth promoted directv. Things are about to get interesting in the next few months...

Has anyone heard whether E* will finally commit to HD fox, abc, and nbc. I know about charlie's bs compelling content rule, but I thought surely by now something would have hit the wire with D* about to put the heat on them. I am really curious how ole charlie's gonna handle his swap out when...

    Dallas HD news

I'm pretty sure longhornxp already said something like this, but I was in Best buy today and actually cornered a Directv corporate guy/installer on his way to a meeting with the regional store boss. I quizzed as much as I could before he bailed, but he informed me that July 15th is the hard date...

    upgrade the hd tivo?

I found a local guy who will upgrade my DVR with extra hard drive space and provide native internet capability to archive shows over my wireless "B" network straight from the box. However, I just don't know if I want to spend the money now that it's been released that D* will begin replacing...
