    If we decide to look at returning to a satellite provider in the future Dish would be low on my list, channel drops and disputes, no AMC and when we cancelled they charged us to return the equipment, left a real bad taste in our mouths.

    I cut down on all our telemarketer calls (we have been on the DNC list since it started) by setting our AIO Printer's fax to answer after 3 rings. Worked quick, now that they think it is a fax number the calls have gone away.

    When I left all Dish could do was $10/ month for a year, not even close to our savings. Now my brother in law has Direct and every channel, when he called them they cut his bill in half to $85/month with every channel and 2 DVRs. Now that's an offer!

    I have had calls like these in the past and I reported them to the DNC complaint, I didn't care if nothing could be done, because the calls stopped after, so somewhere somebody got the message.

    In case you didn't realize, we have FIOS not Comcast. We switched from Dish/Comcast/Vonage to the FIOS Ultimate triple play that includes Showtime, TMC, Epix, Redzone and Cinemax.

    I have computers that I built over 10 years ago that we turn on and off every day without any issue. This laptop I am typing on gets turned on and off daily and has been fine since purchased in 2005.

    When I switched to FIOS I did it all online and it showed me what the fees would be after the promo runs out. Every bill I get also lists the original prices and then all of the discounts listed separately so I can see exactly what I am saving. I am not worried about ever paying full price...

    I agree with you, it just pushed too far and we left. And we love our new service, so it was a bad move on Dish's part, I would never have shopped around. Our picture is a lot better too.

    If your DVR is plugged into a UPS you shouldn't experience any power line noise. I have always used UPSs for all of my DVRs, and had a 622 from 2005 that never had an issue.

    Why don't you change the update time to later in the day when your nieces go to sleep, or is your TV on all of the time? My wife works nights so I had mine set for 5AM so she would never have to deal with it.
