Dish and DirecTV once again in talks despite antitrust.

I'm curious about the technical back end. Do they shut down the DirecTV RUF's that were on the ATT backbone? It's been a few years since I worked at a RUF but I am assuming all that infrastructure stayed when DirecTV separated given that ATT had a controlling interest. Would the new...

American Airlines forgot to pay it’s Dish Network Bill.

Flew on two 737’s from Tucson to Atlanta today, each one live TV was not available. Viasat is saying they are no longer offering. This is terrible service, not to mention it wasn’t the best to begin with as video often froze on these flights, but something is better than nothing. Just wish they...

Nick West HD uplinked in Hidden Test Mode.

I wish Directv would do this. We watch NickW more than the east feed.

Is there any way to get a Hopper 3 without a credit check?

I dont think bad credit is an issue as they are going to be purchasing a home in 6 months when they move from OKC to Texas. He took a job in the oil fields. I think it's a matter of they dont want the inquiry on their report for the mortgage company. From the sounds of it, it sounds like...

Is there any way to get a Hopper 3 without a credit check?

My brother in law called me up looking for answers as I seem to be the satellite guru of the family, but I'm not knowledgeable in the promotions dish has. They want to get a hopper 3 as a new customer but dont want to do the credit check. They looked at dish but it seems to be really...

NFL Thursday Night Football in 4k looks bland

Probably because Dish wasn’t doing it right. Notice it was only dish customers who complained. DirectTV doesn’t have this issue and their channels are in HDR. I have multiple 4K sets in my home. Two in HDR and one not. The one that doesn’t have HDR still tunes in, just in SDR. Dish is the only...

NFL Thursday Night Football in 4k looks bland

It doesn’t matter as it should only be one feed with HDR. Non HDR sets ignores the metadata and displays only in SDR even though its an HDR signal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

NFL Thursday Night Football in 4k looks bland

Yep still use big dish. I'm not sure how they are passing HDR through apple TV, but it reports as HLG HDR on my TV. There was no noticeable difference in my eyes. Yes, I have a 2019 LG that does Dolby Vision, HLG, HDR 10. I'm going to have to do a video on it one day.

NFL Thursday Night Football in 4k looks bland

They all look the same to me as everyone is just passing through the same thing. Yes HDR is present on the cband feed. Im also have gigabit internet so Im getting the max bandwidth available on the Fox app on my Apple TV 4K. The quality is excellent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SES Events 4k channel, events 1, on SES 1. It's encrypted. Primary delivery is fiber.

NFL Thursday Night Football in 4k looks bland

Everything looks great here, but I'm not watching the dish feed. Both the FSN App, DirecTV and Cband feed look good.

Google in discussions with Dish to launch new wireless giant

They really are not much more expensive. A model 3 starts at 35,000.

Google in discussions with Dish to launch new wireless giant

I'm betting if anything happens, we might see a google / dish merger. Tesla is selling more cars than they are estimating. There is a demand for it. I would buy a Tesla over a Ford or Chevy. Ford lost my business when they missed the 47/47 mark with the Fusion Hybrids, and it was more...

    Charlie Says HI!

Back from NAB. Photo's of 8K does no justice and the NHK demo was phenomenal. I just happened by luck to run into Charlie. I was on my way to the Society of Broadcast Engineers national meeting and decided to stop by to snap some photo's of the ATSC 3.0 Phoenix test market information...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

Charlie is in a no win situation with ATT and is trying to get the best deal for him. He's bleeding subs on Dish, and that's loss revenue. Everyone wants a skinny package now. They want the 30 channels they watch and don't want to pay for anything else. It would not surprise me to see...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

Dish is going to have to prove that and is going to have a hard time doing that. No one on here has been able to point out the rules or laws that say ATT must provide HBO to Dish, and won't because there are none.
  19. goaliebob99

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

Actually, my argument is really rock solid. Nice try though. It doesn't matter when HBO was available and who owned it in the past. The reality is (which you cannot accept) is that Dish cannot come to an agreement with AT&T who owns the content. Dish has no leverage, and neither does your...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

Except they cleared those hurdles, and the government has clearly set it's precedent when it approved the NBC Comcast deal. At that point, Dish should have responded by making their own content acquisitions and didn't. Nothing in the antitrust agreements says ATT must give HBO to DISH and...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

The free market is fair and competitive. Dish could have purchased HBO, just like Comcast did with NBC, and Disney did with Fox. You are free to get HBO from any provider that carries it IE: Comcast, Cox, IPTV, etc., including HBO themselves. No one says you must get it through Dish Network...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

That's a good point into why Dish might not want a subscriber guarantee. Maybe the satellite service is feeling the pinch on cord cutting more than they are letting on. You think they would be able to make up the difference with Sling. The only people who know who's telling the truth are...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

As everyone wants to scream leave politics out of it, unfortunately, this is one of the few times where politics has actually molded into satellite discussion. Consideration for that fact should be given. The I hate AT&T comments bring less value to the conversation than what the political...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

IT's not dish's content. AT&T can stipulate what they feel is free market value for that content and if Dish doesn't like it then they don't have to accept. I see a lot of speculative comments on here blaming AT&T but no one for one moment is taking a step back to see the real picture that...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

That's what this dispute really is about. Dish got left behind while DirecTV / Comast and others were out buying content. It started with Comcast and NBC, then ATT purchased DirecTV and Comcast parterned with Verizon, and then ATT bought HBO to level the playing field. Charlie went the...
