Who do you think will believe that a DVR is a "service", its not. Thats like going to Walmart and buying a VCR or a DVD player/recorder and paying Walmart $6 a month to use YOUR player/recorder at home....

My replacement vip211 works fine so far with the software that was "out of the box" and also works fine with the new software that was loaded on with activation..... Its internal hardware failure, nothing more.

Every receiver they sell is junk...

I voted im on my first receiver, my hdmi worked when I first received the 211 in june 2006, then on november 23 it just quit. I would like to know why ? I do not believe it was the port that broke because my receiver was on the lowest shelf and there was no pressure on the connection...

The tech that hooked up my d1000 was too lazy to hook up a phone line to one of my rooms.... his quote was "you dont really need to have it hooked up"

Well said , Scott. This is exactly how I feel too, I got my dish years ago before they were giving them away to *new customers. My cable bill went to $30 back in 1991 or whenever , so I went out and paid $500 for the dish and was happy for a while. Now "betrayed and abandoned" is a very good...

You would think if this 38 million is going toward what you say , then I would be able to get the HD receiver that has a WORKING HDMI output!!, but I dont , and im still currently paying the $80+ per month without a resolution. So the R&D department needs a little more of that cut.

Why does dish charge a $5 fee per month for having a DVR receiver? Is it because TIVO does, because TIVO offers alot more functions for their fee. You can do the same thing with a PC and some media software for FREE , although it is a little more hassle to get the setup going.. I have yet...

Already tried that , although the hdmi port on my 211 seems pretty tight , doesnt jiggle much. My TV says "searching for signal" then "no signal" . But Thanksgiving night when it first quit working it gave me some kind a "cant decode signal" or somthing close to that , and was blinking on and...

If my HDMI cable worked fine when I got the receiver out of the box in June 2006 with my Samsung TV , then why would it stop working in november ??? Because of dish software upgrades ??? Can it not be set back to an earlier version that worked fine before?

My 211 worked out of the box with the HDMI cable ($30) for about 4 months then just quit (Samsung lcd tv). They gave me the same BS story about the software issue, so I guess ill wait untill december to see if the get it fixed. The component cables are working atm, but no one buys a HD...
