    Latest 921 Software Update?

Noticed a few weeks back my 921 got a software update. One of the main things I noticed that they updated (like the 508, 721, etc.) now you get a prompt before changing a channel that has been paused, instead of losing everything if you accidentally hit a channel and it changes. This was well...

any luck with HD locals using Indoor Antenna

Damn good question KC. I'm in a similar boat and have a 921 but no OTA HD Lovin'. Thanks for everyone who posted about the SS. At that price, who can go wrong? I'lll pick one up to see what OTA channels I can pickup here in the ATL.

Echostar purchases 25% share in Archos?

Cool stuff! French gadget site Mobinaute got their hands on the as-yet-unreleased Archos AV700, the plus-size media player with a 7-inch screen. There’s not a whole lot in the post you didn’t already know—USB Host, 100GB hard drive, etc.—but since it’s likely going to be a fairly...

My own conclusion: MPEG4 upgrade will be free.

Dude, that would bum me out too! Hell, I feel bad about spending 498$ for my 921! LMAO!!! :D

My own conclusion: MPEG4 upgrade will be free.

Sometimes makes ya wish they'd make special arrangements for "techies" like us to let us do our own upgrades. But then they'd have eeediots doing it also resulting in multitudes of RMA's. LOL :D

My own conclusion: MPEG4 upgrade will be free.

These receivers are simply computers running *E's version of an OS. I know w/out a doubt they are upgradable in some form or fashion physically, but curious as to why E* says they will not upgrade them to be MPEG-4 capable.

My own conclusion: MPEG4 upgrade will be free.

I disagree with that. I have to think quite a few folks out there are in my boat, in that there is not cable alternative, so this is why we are on satellite in the first place. Now, given a choice to pay a few $$ or switch my entire setup over to *D? I think I'll stay with my current setup. Of...

    Kickass Dish Repair Experience

We rarely get to see examples of good experiences with DISH dispatches so I thought I'd share my latest. I live at an apartment complex who hired a company to power wash the sides of all the buildings. Needless to say, these EEEDIOTS came down on my antenna with their lift and totally...

    PIP question

I just hit swap, change the channel to what I want, then swap back. I also love being able to pause the one in PIP, watch the other till a commercial comes on, pause that, swap to the other and continue watching. In effect watching 2 shows at the same time. Man I LOOOOVE PIP. :D

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Ok, first off. HD PQ on cable is NOT any better than it is on *E. I don't think anyone else here would dispute that. I mean, that is pretty much just impossible. Also, I've seen cable PQ on a widescreen TV on both Time Warner Cable and Comcast Cable vs. *E and in both instances it was worth than...

    921 or 811?

I've had the 811 and currently own the 921. The 921 kicks ass. HD WITH dual DVR? It's a no brainer. Specially for $500 or less. PQ for the 811 and 921 seemed identical to me, and ironically, my 721 with s-video out seemd a bit better with SD PQ than my 921 does with SD PQ, even though I'm using...

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Funny. I have had the 301, 508, 721 and now 921 receivers. None of which have ever been unreliable. In fact. They all kicked ass.

I'm not defensive, just tired of hearing your rants. Move on already sheesh. I'll be the first to admit *E isn't perfect. But who the hell is? If we should be pissed at anyone, it should be the entire Television Enternainment industry. HD was intro'd EONs ago and still we are clamoring for good...

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

I agree with that statement completely. I just get tired of looking in every post and seeing wmjhr bash *E in all of them. I mean c'mon dude. So you don't like *E, we've been seeing your endless rants bashing them for months now. We're glad your happy with cable. Now how bout you move on and do...

    Weird PS2 problem with 811

Your tv doesn't have enough connections to hookup the PS2 directly? I'd buy the HD/composite cables anways. Graphics look marginally crisper, especially on a big tv.

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Hey dude, why do you still hang out in the dish forums? Isn't there a cable forum you can go hang out in to bash *E?

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Amen to that brother. HDNet blows me away everytime I turn to it. Litereally. sometimes I think my Sony LCD conspires with my 921 to view that channel on it's own when I'm not looking.

LMAO! Guy here had the same issue with Comcast. Install was supposed to be between 2 and 5pm. They finally got there at 7pm after about 5 calls to them and their management. I had the same trouble with *D (3 no shows), that's why I ended up going with *E.

LOL. You guys are brutal. Bottom line is, do whatever makes you happy. To be honest, if I had a cable option worth a crap, I would have it, guaranteed. But since I don't, *E is the next best thing and for now. I'm happy. Seriously, if you've dumped E* and are happy, more power to ya. Some of us...
