    Dish disconnection procedures

I had a different experience today. I cancelled Dish, been a customer for 7 years. In spite of what was written in the "Do I own my 811 receiver?" thread below, Dish claimed I did not have to return either receiver. And nothing metioned about the LNB for the Dish 500. (Good thing, because...

Do I own my 811 receiver?

Called Dish and canceled service. CSR said I owned my two recievers (the 811 and a 4900), and that I could keep or sell them. Thanks for your replies.

Do I own my 811 receiver?

If I had a programming committment, then I don't own the receiver? What was the $200 (or whatever the amount was) for then?

Well, I will be calling Dish tomorrow, right after DirecTV gets hooked up.... :) Just wanted to know what to expect from Dish when I called them.

Do I own my 811 receiver?

When the 811 first came out I paid something like $200, plus promised to have 12 months or so of a certain level of programming? So do I own the receiver? Will Dish want it back if I cancel service? I was able to sell my previous receiver, the 6000, it was acquired in a similar manner...

811 loses OTA Programming Info - What about 211 and 622?

I just called Dish to ask about this and upgrading receivers. Dish confirmed what others have said here, that the feature of showing the programming information for OTA was taken away, and this feature is not shown for the 211 and 622 receivers. (unless you want to pay the extra local fee, and...

811 loses OTA Programming Info - What about 211 and 622?

I have had a 811 receiver for over a year. For OTA, it used to show the programming information for what show was on each channel. Now it just shows "Local Digital" on every digital channel. This apparently came as a software "upgrade" (really a downgrade!). Do the newer 211 and 622...

Dish Changed their Story on HD Install

Here is some more information from my friend: We've been with DISH for 4.5 years. DISH messages always thanked us for being one of DISH's best customers. We have had the America's 180 package plus two movie packs and a minimum monthly bill of about $96. Have leased the four receivers...

Dish Changed their Story on HD Install

I had a friend get a Dish HD install, and Dish seemed to change story after first install.......Any suggestions....and what's actually being offered for his case? So I called DISH in December and then again a few days ago concerning an upgrade to HD receiver and programming. They said I...

"Customers with a model 811 or 6000 receiver are eligible to upgrade their existing receiver to a ViP211 for just $49.00. - All eligible customers would be considered Plan A under this promotional program." What does "All eligible customers would be considered Plan A under this promotional...

Can you buy a 211 instead of lease?

Thanks, I took a look at the 211 prices at DishDepot. Looks like one costs $379. But why would one want to purchase a 211 for $379, when you can get one from Dish for $49, if the fees are the same (either lease or another fee of the same price)?

Can you buy a 211 instead of lease?

Just wondering if it's possible to buy a 211 instead of pay the $6 monthly lease fee from Dish. I bought my 811, so don't have to pay a lease fee. Same with 6000, which I sold, and 4900 which I still have. Thanks.

    Where's ESPN2HD?

I understand that. I was looking at the Dish Online Channel Guide.

    Where's ESPN2HD?

Sorry, I know you need a new receiver. I have an 811, so don't expect to see the channel. But even if I had a 211, I don't see it listed in Dish's Onlline Channel Guide for "Dish HD Channels", so was wondering where ESPN2HD really was.

    Where's ESPN2HD?

I see that the HD programming at the Dish Website shows ESPN2HD as a station. But when I look at the Online Channel Guide for "Dish HDTV Channels" I don't see ESPN2HD. I checked 8 hour periods on five different days.

    A few Dish HD questions

I live in San Francisco area, and I currently have a Dish 500, wiht Dish 811 and older Dish 4900 receiver. I subscribe to the America's 180 package, and the Dish $10 HD package (5 channnels). If I want to upgrade to a 211 I guess I have to trade in a receiver. I understand I can upgrade the...

Current OLN Status (It is on Ch 151 on DISH)

How can you possibly say that? I don't think you have any idea of what Dish has told me. In fact what they have told me more than once. Early on, they told me they expected this to be settled soon. (that sounds close). And within the last week or so, they wrote me saying they hoped to...

Current OLN Status (It is on Ch 151 on DISH)

Wrote CEO@echostar another letter. I'll report back on their response to my concerns: 1) No OLN for six months, although Dish keeps suggesting agreement is close by. 2) No compensation for dropping OLN, in fact Dish raised their prices.

Current OLN Status (It is on Ch 151 on DISH)

It's past time for a OLN fix. :)

Any word on OLN? Not Yet.

I think you can upgrade just by calling Dish, and the upgrade will happen in just a few minutes. Isn't that correct?

Any word on OLN? Not Yet.

At least partially right, according to what I've heard and read. Since now had hockey, Comcast wanted Dish to carry OLN on more of it's tiers (I think Comcast wanted at least 40% of Dish's subscriber to have OLN.) Dish apparently said no (they felt they had a current contract), OLN blacked out...

Any word on OLN? Not Yet.

Actually it was Dish the pulled the plug on OLN. OLN blacked out the hockey games to Dish, trying to force Dish to change the contract terms. Within a couple of days, Dish pulled OLN from their line-up.
