? For those getting Stars and Stripes

I switched to Americas Top 200 + Veterans Package in November of 2019. The last movie certificate I received was in December of 2023. That's about 4 years.

DISH Time Clock Off 20 sec

There may also be some additional seconds added when Dish does their re-encoding from standard HD to HD-Lite (1440x1080p).

    KTTV Los Angeles Remapping Channels

On December 9th, KTTV (virtual channel 11) in Los Angeles added an ATSC 3.0 signal and remapped many sub-channels. By doing a local channel rescan of physical channels 11, 13 and 35 on my ViP211k receiver I got all my channels back. How long does it normally take Dish to remap the program guide...

    Loyal Dish customer longevity

21 years. It was just after Dish raised the price on DishPix from $1.00 each for 10 channels to $1.50 per channel. Being on the west coast, I enjoyed receiving both east and west coast Networks (with PBS) where I could watch prime time 3 hours earlier. My vacation home was in a mountain...

"Reflector" needed for Stars & Stripes package?

Problem solved: Dish thought I had a Dish 500 setup, and the CSR wouldn't take my word for it that I already receive all three western arc birds. And if I tried to cancel the installer, the Stars & Stripes add-on would be automatically cancelled as well. Resolved it with a supervisor on a...

"Reflector" needed for Stars & Stripes package?

I was told by a CSR that I reed to have an installer add a "reflector" in order to receive the channels in the Stars & Stripes package. I already have a dish pointing at 110, 119 & 129. What does this "reflector" do?

    Dish dropping DISH America Silver

I received an email that Dish is dropping the America Silver package for those of us who were grandfathered after they stopped offering it as a new package. It's gone after Dec. 31. It looks like all the channels except for Smithsonian are in their Top 200 package, which they are offering at a...

Which packages have the Olympic Channel (389)?

Apparently the Olympic Channel is not free. Can't find anything on the Dish website as to how to get it. It might be on their site, but I have a hard time finding things there.

Dish receiver on a non interruptible power supply.

Make sure your UPS does not put out square waves. These models are OK for lighting, but not electronic equipment. Use a UPS with a "modified sine wave" or "true sine wave" output. Even "modified" might be iffy depending upon the quality of the power supply in the receiver.

New EPG Info data - strange

Positive note! There is now a symbol in the guide that indicates if the program is blacked out in my area. I don't have to go to the channel and then be presented with the dreaded blacked-out message box. Or has that symbol always been there and I just haven't been paying attention?

    Possible Scam?

I've had about four similar calls over the last couple of years about the satellites being moved, and that my 211k was obsolete. I recorded the calls received on 11/25/14 & 1/6/15; don't remember the other dates. Of course, when you ask them which satellites are being moved and to where, they...

Dish Networks HD is True HD?

In addition to HD Lite, I remember seeing somewhere that Dish's standard definition is SD Lite - about 540x480. Not even 640x480. And a letterboxed program in SD is therefore effectively only about 540x360. What's next? 4K Lite?

Price of Dish America,Silver & Gold package

Rule #1 in database programming: never put the same information in two different databases. They will surely get out-of-sync. Derive all your screens and reports from a single, accurate source.

    211K trying to record

It appears to me to be a bug in Dish's software. If the box can't get a valid handshake from the TV (a copy protection issue), the box basically shuts down all video. But the software should NEVER shut down the standard definition outputs. It logically should always allow you to do what you...

So how many watts does Dish hardware use?

My 211 receivers draw about 19 watts each. (Actually 19 volt-amps. I don't have a true watt-meter.) My 311 draws 8 watts. A SW64 switch on my roof draws 25 watts. I put a digital timer on my two 211s and the SW64 to shut them off between 11 pm and 8 am. Saves about $5/month. But you have to...

    Epix free for one month

I have Dish America Silver without locals. When I called the CSR to add the free month of EPIX, I (twice) asked whether that change would force me to add locals. She said it would not force me to take locals. WRONG. Further, the card that was mailed to me said "No strings attached." Also...

'NBC Sports Network' now on AT200...any other channels?

According to the Dish website, NBCSN has also been added to Dish America Gold. I'm still getting it on Dish America Silver, but Dish doesn't list it as being in the Silver package.

    VIP211 - L563 software

The old software had the option of mapping the HD channels down to the SD numbers. For example, Syfy's HD channel 9432 could be mapped down next to 122. L563 forces the map-down whether you want it or not. You can't disable that option now. I liked the ability to directly choose the SD...

Dish Cutting off DishPix Sept. 29

And I thought I was the only one still subscribing to DishPix. Got DishPix along with distant networks back in 1999 for my vacation home in the boonies where OTA wasn't, and still isn't, available. Haven't received a call from Dish yet, but if Top 120 is the cheapest package now, it looks...
