Dish has bad picture quality. I bitched about it a year ago and dish would not do anything, I am finally sick of it. Going to try out DirecTV.

My HD quality just keeps going down hill. Picture gets all blocky. When its black it's terrible. Getting ready to pull the plug. Try Directv for a while.

I can't wait to cancel Dish. Picture quality is crap. I've been a Dish customer since 05. Dish you can only compress so much.

My old hopper had a signal of like 80 maybe or higher, this one signal is 40 to 42

Oh yes I do. Tech came in hooked his meter up to my cables coming in to unit and said a signal of 43 was good. He never went outside to check dish. He said 43 signal was good for sat I was on, other sat needed a higher signal than 70. In my opinion tech was a dumb_ss. All I wanted him to do was...

I have a better idea, how bout fixing the pixilation problem dish has. When I first signed up for HD when it came out tv picture was great now it's just so so. IMOP dish has done something to cheapen the quality of tv picture. Tech came out checked signal said it was ok but agreed the picture...

Wondering how much to upgrade to the newest hopper with sling will cost? My hopper been freaking out lately.

After watching a recording, it pauses and if you let it go back to live TV on its own, there is no sound. So I go back in to my DVR taped shows, start any episode, and then push "live TV" button to get the sound back. It only does it on the hopper, not the joey. Any ideas? Thanks

Well I've had my Hopper now for about 2 weeks, and think it's awesome. Replaced a 922 that worked pretty good. Wonder why they didn't come out with it sooner(like 10 years ago). I forgot I did do a 2 year agreement. Getting HD on two tv's is main reason I'm doing it.

Checked with them last night, free for the original hopper, $100 bucks for the hopper with sling. Sling is cool, but I found out that I didn't use it as much as I thought. Besides the wife is sick of me spending $ on electronics, not gonna push it :)

Guess I'll have to check with DIRT see what they have to say. But the older ones aren't to bad either?

Sorry if this has been gone over a thousand times but..I'm getting the 1 hopper and 1 joey installed Saturday. I heard the HWS is better unit. Is this true? Should I get one with sling or is original fine? I have a vip922 with sling and it's pretty cool. Just don't want to be getting something...

With what you're thinking, all businesses are like that. Verizon, AT&T, Dish, Directv,Comcast, Charter. It's called screw the little guy.

Well just bit the bullet, signed up for the hopper. Coming out April 6 to hook it up, can't wait. Hope you guys are right about the hopper!

Geez..just got mine in November. Wish I had my old unit back. Like the old menu setting better.
