DirecTV Now to rebrand under AT&T TV family.

And DVR recordings delete after 90 days. I know where the cost benefits are for AT&T, but from a consumer standpoint and I can't see a compelling reason to choose this over the traditional service.

That included the 1st year's programming. Installation was extra also back then.

    Happy Birthday DirecTV

I remember paying close to $1000 for my first DirecTV setup in 1997. You had to subscribe to USSB for premium channels and no locals. Still, the tech was so far ahead of cable. I loved it.

DirecTV equipment question - exploring my options

Thanks for the responses. I haven't been a DTV customer since 2006 and have not really paid attention to their equipment. My GF has DTV though and since my contract is about up I figured it's worth at least looking into. Overall I'm happy with my Dish equipment. I'm sure I can work something...

DirecTV equipment question - exploring my options

I'm currently a Dish subscriber and am nearing the end of my 24-mo contract and price lock. I'm slightly annoyed by the HBO dispute and am always looking to reduce expenses so it seems prudent to at least check out DirecTV's offers. My current setup: 1 Hopper 3 (connected to 4KTV) 1 4K Joey...

    Major DIRECTV Rumor Alerts

Interesting new path for pay TV - signal-delivery-agnostic. I see it appealing to folks where mounting a dish is not an option (apartments, wooded areas, etc.) I'm curious what the "majority" of channels will entail. Will NFL:ST be available? Also, will there be a commercial version? We have a...

    Storm Disruption

And at least with satellite the outage has some rhyme and reason and can even be anticipated to a degree. Signal acting up? Check the southern sky and usually your answer is there. With cable you have no idea what caused it of how long it will be out.

    DIRECTV Grants Endless Wishes

Looks like a pretty slick setup. I'm interested as to how they execute the previous episodes features. I also notice that you can connect up to 8 RVU boxes/TV's. Looks like DirecTV is also OK with overextending the TV/Tuner ration like the Joey. Looking at the Genie Promo site I see how...

What is Directv Going to use this for?

Now I know who I DON'T want next to me on the tour bus into the Outback!!! :D

What is Directv Going to use this for?

Well, if Genie is the new name for the HR34/RVU system their logo is certainly sexier than a kangaroo! :)

Need Advice-New Construction Home Directv Wiring

I agree with the others: *Multiple coax and cat5e/cat6 to all rooms *Add more runs beyond what you need now for future growth *All runs to come back to a central location I would also add: *Run one coax to the attic for an OTA antenna in case you ever want one *Add several cox runs to the...

Help with equipment when switching to D* from E*

I have a similar setup as the OP and was considering a switch too. However, based on jaj1701's suggestion I see and issue for the TV's that would use the H24 receivers. While they would be able to use the MRV function for recorded content they would lose the ability to pause/buffer live TV...

New Technology: DirecTV Ethernet Coaxial Adapter

Actually they do make such cable. I've used it before. It's got a thick jacket and looks a lot like coax. Inside the twisted pair wire is coated with a gel also. The stuff is a royal pain to work with. You are an absolute mess after terminating it. The DECA stuff looks really great. Looks...

DIRECTV and TiVo to Launch New HD DIRECTV DVR with TiVo Service

This is exciting news. I jumped to E* 2 years ago. While I really like my 622 the wife and I both miss the TIVO interface. If the new boxes use the Single-Wire technology and can do Multi-room viewing I will be seriously considering coming back. Can't wait for more detailed specs to...

    Local channels?

Sorry, but legally DirecTV can only give you the locals of the city in wich you live. I think it's a FCC rule. I think the only way you can get your out-of-market hockey and baseball games is to buy the NHL Center Ice & MLB Extra Innings packages.

universal remote question DTV model 11

You might need to manually program the buttons using the learn function on your remotes. I had to do that with my DirecTivo as my Denon remote didn't allow for the use of several button as well.

    5.1 Surround through DVR

You don't even need the DVR to get the 5.1 sound. D*'s receivers have supported 5.1 sound via optical output for years.

    DVR fan??

It's very normal. Even though the unit is in "Standby" mode it is actually still on. It's busy keeping up with its recording schedule as well as doing its various housekeeping functions - like recording those annoying ads available on the DirecTV Central screen ;) Nothing to worry about.

    Needing a new dvr

I believe there are links on this site where you can buy a ready out-of-the-box replacement HDD for your DirecTivo. When my original tivo died (Sony Sat T60) I called and asked what to do. They offered the refurb, but I decided to just go to Best Buy and pick up a new one. (This was about 2...

I have a DVD recorder on my laptop...

Actually, most new digital camcorders have an analog pass-thru function which converts the analog signal to a digital one. Your PC looks at it as a standard DV video transfer. The downside of that is that you'll need to transcode the DV to MPEG2 to burn to DVD. I suppose your idea with a...
