    Unwanted PPV Recordings

I had 2 on LR dvr and 1 on the BR dvr...all at different times....fun :)

Updated DirecTV HD Locals Launch Schedule: November->March (And PBS Launches)

Am I confusing ATSC and NTSC...? I could have sworn that the bandwidth allowed for each network by the FCC was either 16MHz or 19MHz, and each network/affiliate could choose to split that into however many "subsets" as they wanted.

Why aren't all hi-def channels filling up TV screen?

Ditto for my 50" Vizio. Immediately after switching from 4:3 to 16:9, I can see the old crop edges, but after only a few seconds (maybe :30 at most), the new full screen view is "clean". This is two years old now, and I would not consider it "high end".

    Guide seems a lot faster

Keep in mind that you can also press the YELLOW button and select "Previous Channels". If these are your most watched channels, you will see the channel number AND what is currently playing on that channel. Can't remember what version of updates included this feature, but recently...

Why aren't all hi-def channels filling up TV screen?

Somewhat back on topic for a second... ;) Some channels, such as Discovery, still broadcast some programming that was shot in SD before HD became the "norm" and to help fill the screen, and without stretching, will zoom the image a little bit. For instance, watch an old Dirty Jobs...

    Netflix on DVR?

In the spirit of Christmas Miracles....YES!! Hallelujah!!

    Netflix on DVR?

Okay, ran Network Test on HR20 and now all is well. Not the smoothest of installs when you factor all the extra effort, but the payoff can easily be worth the $30 lifetime fee. :up

    Netflix on DVR?

"No Signal" screen wouldn't go away...no response from box at all...had to do RBR. This is getting frustrating...

    Netflix on DVR?

Rebooting DVR seems to have helped, but now I am getting a message saying that the DVR couldn't not communicate with my PC. Tried to load a different movie, and the screen went blank (TV says "No Signal"). Time for a DVR network test....

    Netflix on DVR?

May still need to reboot the DVR, but after successful reinstall/upgrade of PlayOn, the Netflix folder still says "unable to read file", but other folders allow access. Will report back after Cowboys game...

    Netflix on DVR?

:D I hate these movies...but it is now personal!! And all this time, and I am also rebuilding a friends laptop and it is also throwing some tantrums. I am being challenged across the board tonight. But I rarely back down from a challenge. This .NET install is taking FOREVER!!!

Downloaded .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 directly from MSDN...maybe that will work...

    Netflix on DVR?

I am installing the new PlayOn software as we speak and one thing that is different fro two days ago is that the install paused saying that I needed .NET Framework 3.5 installed prior to completing the PlayOn install. It is downloading/installing .NET right now... PS - This is PlayOn version...

    Netflix on DVR?

I don't think it is automatic. I know that I had to read the warnings and click a button to do so. Read about it here: The Official Netflix Blog: Opt-in for the new Netflix movie player You would have to click the link at the bottom of that post and then click the button on that next page.

    Netflix on DVR?

After the CE download, everything (except the NetFlix issue) was resolved. All other services are visible to the extent that they should be. I will next try the PlayOn reinstall to see if that works. As for the NetFlix Silverlight opt-in, I am regretting this choice (aside from PlayOn). The...

    Netflix on DVR?

New issue: each folder (Netflix/Hulu/YouTube/CNN/etc) is now saying that "there are no files in this folder". I am putting some stock in this HR20 needing to be rebooted - I have already rebooted the PC. Since there is a CE tonight, it will get a full boot then. I will report back any...

    What BS!

True...but I like the peace of mind knowing that not only is the box covered for any reason, but all services calls (if nec.) are covered as well. For $5/mo, it's worth it considering it can cost $75 to get a tech on-site without the coverage.

    HD Receiver Outputs

But this would not allow the someone to watch two different programs on two different TV's around the house. D* DVR's are one signal out at a time, regardless of where or how it is being delivered.

    Netflix on DVR?

The Netflix wouldn't work on the TV, but does work on the computer (Silverlight compatibility issues???). Watched "War, Inc" on my laptop yesterday and it looked as good as I could expect. Had full bars and that was on the wireless signal. Running a Netgear RangeMAX N router - wireless to...

2nd receiver moved to separate dish

If you leave the spotbeam coverage, yes. And spotbeams vary in size depending on your home market. So if you are only going a few miles down the road, you are likely going to be fine. If you are going several states away, you are likely SOL. National feeds should not be affected...

    What BS!

This is the part that is frightening about the "owned" receivers. What if you sink $600 into a new wholly-owned DVR and it craps out 1 day after the manufacturers warranty? You're out $600 for the first and then another $600 for the replacement. Not so with the lease deal (and also suggest...

    Netflix on DVR?

When I showed this to my wife this morning, and then told her it was a one-time/lifetime license of $30, she was floored. She immediately logged into NetFlix and updated our queue of movies, looking specifically for items that had the "Watch Now" option. She never so easily allows me to buy...

    Netflix on DVR?

Just got it installed on my PC and recognized by the HR20-700. The navigation is easy (though slow at times) and the load/buffer seems to be suitable. Faster than VOD, but that's a cheap shot at D* ;) I tried a movie from Netflix, but it wouldn't load. This probably has more to do with the...
