    The error message won't go away until the error is corrected. Simple. There is no setting that you can choose that will turn off the error message or reconfigure your system to work in a different way. You will either have to fix the actual problem or live with the message.

    This is what I was told as well when I had DirecTv installed (again) last weekend. I settled for an HR-44 Genie, which has been perfect. I didn't really press the 4K issue as I have other sources for 4K that actually have content I am interested in.

    Calm thinking can prevail and also avoid headache. Mistakes are sometimes made and they can be corrected. Not sure why many think that the AG, BBB, or president of the company will resolve the issue quicker than a phone call or 2 to customer service.

    I used to use an app on my cell phone when I wanted a lighted remote for Directv. It was made by Directv and it is possible it is still available. Most of the time I just used the regular genie remote.

    It won't get you out of a contract if you are currently in one. You can always refuse a new installation for any reason. The equipment would work as advertised, because there is no guarantee that the remote will work with anything other than the Directv equipment.

    You can no longer pre-schedule recordings of "Freeview" premium channels. You might try using the directv app or website to set the reccording once the freeview actually starts.
