DIRECTV statement regarding NFL HD 2007

No, but it only makes sense to do this. Honestly I made a prediction months ago on several forums that with the new CBS games they would have to shutdown TNT and possibly more to handle it. And thus when the channels on MPEG4 (which again, makes total sense) they then have a way "out" to offer...

FSN & MASN Full screen on HDTV

Do you have an HR10 (HD DirecTivo?) I ask because I saw reports on the Tivo Forum that the latest software update to the Tivo's wiped out people's settings for sidebars and stretch and so forth. So you need to reset that stuff on your Tivo.

Has D* moved network HD to a different Satellite?

Many of the HD channels have been switched around the past month or so, especially clearing off 101 and moving to 110 and 119. In preparation for Sunday Ticket.

DIRECTV statement regarding NFL HD 2007

What you gonna do when they shut down *all* of MPEG2 HD in about a year. By the way, you call then and their response will be simple this year. "We'll upgrade you to an MPEG4 receiver so you can receive TNT-HD on Sunday's." By they way, I can pretty much guarantee you that there are more...

DIRECTV statement regarding NFL HD 2007

This has actually been another thing I've been saying for a while. I'm sure they plan to light up all the current MPEG2 HD channels in MPEG4 on D10 at launch. And then if someone calls in to complain that they can't watch Law and Order on Sunday afternoon on TNT-HD then they can be offered a...

DIRECTV statement regarding NFL HD 2007

And this is pretty much exactly like many of us said it would go. And NFL ST 2008 to MPEG4 only will be the last gasp before MPEG2 HD shutdown. MLB EI HD was already announced as MPEG4 only next season.

DIRECTV statement regarding NFL HD 2007

Because like he said, it will be in MPEG2. That's on the current sats, not the new ones.

D*'s REALLY trying to get the word out about the MPEG4 requirement

:up Can't tell you how many times I've seen on AVS where there are no posts about bad PQ until someone posts some numbers and then all of a sudden a flood of posts about how much PQ sucks. Those people wouldn't "notice" or complain until you put some numbers out there. Personally I ignore...

New 2 Year Agreement Every Time ??

The moral of the story that no matter how you get a new reciever they will put a new commitment on it unless you fight it and if you have the protection plan you will have an easier time fighting it. But as with anything else it's all CSR roulette on how well you will do. I know some people...

    National HD Channel Roll-Out Plans

Well first of all, who in their right mind is paying $350? $229 and free Superfan is all anybody should be paying. $229 equals $13.50 a week for the season. Hmmmm, I think one less pizza a week covers that. Or try to go to the bar for 6 hours and only pay $13.50. $30 minimum. Even at the...

Apartment faces east, southeastern sky visible

DirecTV service is from 101/110 and 119. Unless you can point your dish over your roof to the South*west* then you can't get a signal from DirecTV. Some very small market locals are on a sat at 72.5 but that would all you'd get from that sat (assuming it's your locals on there).

    HR20 and Heavy Rain

Definately. You should get something from nearby spotbeams as someone noted above (DC, Baltimore was mentioned I think). For example my HD locals are on 99 TP 6 and I get a 95 signal on it. 2 other transponders on 99 I get low 50s (far away markets). I have no channels on 103 but I get...

    Did you know...

Yea, it was added in a CE quite some time ago but it never really worked correctly. Sounds like perhaps they tried again in the latest and got it going. Good show. Just for background, most of the DirecTivo's that I am aware of will allow you to watch recorded stuff without a sat signal. But...

    HR20 and Heavy Rain

Check out the install videos at Solid Signal. If he didn't "fine tune" it like that then the dish isn't properly aligned. Especially for the KA sats.

    sluggish guide

Yea, it's something you can turn off. I'll be honest that I don't know where it is, I think in the Video setup. I remember testing it in a CE months ago when it was a hidden back door and I never changed the settings since.

    HR20 recording playing bugs?

Could be it's all messed up from the loss of signal. I had lots of storms Saturday night and it locked up do to loss of signal (which is the only time my HR20 locks up). Could be yours didn't lock up but got some corrupted memory causing it to be weird. I would definately restart it. Heck I...

    HR20 recording playing bugs?

How do you mean? Are they blank and don't play or do they freeze up? What channel/shows? There used to be a problem with this about 9 months ago (although I only saw it once personally) but it's long been squished and is pretty rare to see this. A restart many times would make them playable.

    sluggish guide

Had an HR20 since September and never had a delay with the guide that wasn't just a temporary glitch (in other words didn't see it again). Could be at the time it was cranking away at some stuff in the background or something. If it's still going on and you've turned off the guide animations...

D*'s REALLY trying to get the word out about the MPEG4 requirement

Just FYI that you can't actually drop locals, they are included in every package now. Only way to not pay for them is if they aren't actually available in your market.

    National HD Channel Roll-Out Plans

They don't have a firm date yet. They need to finish testing and get the sat in final position. Then we'll get a date.

Are you Ready for Directv's new HD Channels in September?

Why would they? No reason to not put them in MPEG4 as well. It's not like they need to "save" the bandwidth. They need to put them up eventually anyway. I personally hope they all get simulcast in MPEG4 for one reason: My HR20 will record 50 hours MPEG4 HD, only 20 hours MPEG2 HD. Thus...

D*'s REALLY trying to get the word out about the MPEG4 requirement

RE: No OTA. I personally prefer OTA and in fact need it for my NBC since it's owned by LIN and not on any sat provider. Having said that, of all the people I know with HD only 2 others have an antenna. All the others say "that's what cable/dbs is for, why would I want an ugly antenna". Sure...

D*'s REALLY trying to get the word out about the MPEG4 requirement

Rumored next gen HR20. Has been no official confirmation or information about it. There is an H21 though, the replacement for the H20, in testing right now. It's basically an H20 with updated hardware, no OTA but with ethernet connections. No idea on the HR21 on what it will be. Could be...
