What makes you stay with Directv?

Well, no boxes are required with Xfinity, you can add an unlimited number of Roku devices and use the Xfinity streaming service app at no charge. You need the X1 for DVR and other capabilities, but no other cable box is required.

What makes you stay with Directv?

Humm, doesn't D* charge per box? Albeit, a bit cheaper usually than cable, maybe 2 bucks. Not sure about Spectrum, but as I indicated about Comcast, they let you stream from multiple TVs via Roku (or other streaming devices) as long as you have an X1 - no box fees then. Does Spectrum not...

What makes you stay with Directv?

I see that most of this discussion revolves around sports networks, I guess that is the primary reason for most of you keeping D*. As I said, I am a casual sports fan, so all those sports networks would go unwatched in my house. I only watch the Steelers and occasionally the Penguins. The...

What makes you stay with Directv?

Interesting on not requiring internet access, I guess if a person doesn't care about on-demand or ordering movies via the remote, that is true. By my reckoning those services require an internet connection. As for getting an internet connection, what do you use? I guess it may be T-Mobile if...

What makes you stay with Directv?

Yes, good luck with D*. I hope for your sake (and others), D* stays alive, but to me, I am not convinced about its future. And D* requires an internet connection, correct? How do you get internet? Odds are it is cable. And it always amuses me when people say, "I got rid of cable" - they...

What makes you stay with Directv?

Yes, D* seems to be the better choice for a sports junkie. Personally, I don't really care that much about sports - I only watch my local team (the Steelers) and the Super Bowl, so I don't need all the sports channels D* offers.

What makes you stay with Directv?

I have heard that argument about picture quality, and truly I cannot see any difference. I would like to see a professional picture quality comparison done by a non-biased source. I cannot seem to find a source on the internet that provides details. From my own experience, I had D* before and...

What makes you stay with Directv?

Posts are old. And they refer to cable cards - who uses them anymore? I have seen no degradation and my system uses an X1, not a cable card. I haven't seen any evidence of down converting in my area (Pittsburgh, PA).

What makes you stay with Directv?

Thank you for that "detailed" reply. But really, picture quality on Xfinity seems compatible. I have had no problems with it. Customer service on DTV vs Comcast seems the same - not great, but not terrible. In fact, my sister had a terrible time getting thru on DTV's phone line; I have had...

What makes you stay with Directv?

As a former DTV subscriber who switched to cable several years ago, I still occasionally "lurk" on this forum. And my sister insists on keeping DTV, so I also check here to help her if she has problems. But anyway, here is my question for those who are still loyal to DTV. NFL Sunday Ticket...

    Retention? More like rejection!

I checked my monthly usage - it is about 500g a month. I guess I haven't exceeded the limit.

    Retention? More like rejection!

Well, I have had no problems with the Netgear modem and it supports voice, which Motorola doesn't. Reference: 6 Best Approved Modems For Comcast Xfinity In 2022

    Retention? More like rejection!

Well, in 2019 I bought a Netgear CM1150V modem, which supports Comcast double and triple play for about $250, and I have a gigabit service in the triple play. I never paid any additional charges for data usage (probably rolled into gigabit service). I guess my main point is that you can buy...

    Retention? More like rejection!

There is no need to rent a modem for Comcast. You can buy a compatible modem from Netgear and save the rental cost. And there is no limit on data.

    Wow - D* Finally Listened...

I switched to FIOS about 3 years ago. One of the reasons I switched was because of the lack of premium channels - HBO and Cinemax choices were especially lame. Out of curosity, I checked the D* website and found that they have finally added the missing HBO and Cinemax channels! Too bad it...

    D* Improves Premium Choices but...

Yes, indeed, I know that they can't please all customers all of the time. But it just doesn't seem fair to customers to not give them most if not all what the subscription service offers. Plus I have built a nice library of HD titles from Cinemax sub channels...many of which aren't available...

    D* Improves Premium Choices but...

I switched to FioS a while ago and I am glad I did but I still look around at what D* is up to. It looks like they have improved their premium offerings, especially on Showtime and Starz/Encore. D* still is lacking on HBO/Cinemax though. Can't figure out why they limit their HBO HD choices...

So, are we ever going to have more then 4 hbo hd channels and 2 max? :\

Switch to FiOS! D*'s lack of premium content is one of the major reasons I switched to FiOs. FiOs has all of the HBO and Cinemaxes in HD. FiOs has most of the Showtime and Starz channels in HD as well as Epix HD. Epix HD offers additional HD movie choices with the extra benefit of on-demand...

Why I Switched Totally to FIOS

Yes, too bad FIOS is not nationwide. Is ATT u-verse available out there in Reno?

Why I Switched Totally to FIOS

The box rental fees are bit steep, but no cost to upgrade when/if a new box comes out. And cable card rental is only $ 3.99 if you have TiVo or a compatible TV.

Why I Switched Totally to FIOS

Yes, I will grant you that the above is true, but reliabilty, at least for me has been perfect. If FIOS does go down, I still have cellphone for phone and for entertainment I have tons of movies and shows recorded to watch (and I might even read a book for a change!). Oh, and I have OTA...

Why I Switched Totally to FIOS

Yes, sorry, what I was really trying to say is that D* can NOT provide Internet and Phone service without the assistance of a telco or cable (yes, I know D* has internet but not at 35 MB download). I admitted earlier that this one was somewhat of a weak point so your level of invective was NOT...
