Similarly.. Starz is $13.99 on Direct... $8.99 on Amazon... We used HBO on Amazon for GoT... very happy with the video quality, shows were usually available ~5 minutes sooner, and you could skip as far ahead as you wanted.

Nope.. I did exactly that (politely)... no offer to get below $17.99./month. I can get Showtime for free with that (for 3 months).. but nothing to get the cost to the same level as Amazon Prime, iTunes, Dish, etc. Looks like we'll be trying it on Amazon Prime.

I didn't do a thorough test.. with "TV audio" hidden as a source, the AVR doesn't seem to do ARC.. and as such if I am watching something thru the TV (ie. its a smart TV), no audio. When I re-enable "TV audio" such that ARC works, back to the original turn-on problem. No one else is seeing...

I can live with that limitation. In watching only 1 series so far on Amazon Prime, I was quite pleased with the streaming quality. Hopefully it will be comparable. thanks Mike

Are you saying one can have the DVR connect wirelessly to your router, and then hang a wired device off of the DVR? (if so, which gizmo is doing the DHCP?)

longshot.. in the settings, tell the Genie that your TV only supports 1080p. Disable all other resolutions. Also in your AVR, turn off any scaling/conversion. see if that makes the problem go away.. if it does, then start re-enabling until you identify who was causing the problem.

I had a spare (I would have thought much older) HDMI cable which was long enough (12').. I swapped out the cable between TV and AVR and now life is good. The simple Genie remote powers on/off TV + DVR + AVR. and as a bonus, ARC is finally working for me too (TV->AVR) thanks for the help!

Ok that is helpful.. ie. that appears to narrow the debug to the LG(TV) <> Denon connection. I had been trying cables between the DVR and Denon instead... but the HR54 does have an HMDI-CEC setting.. are you saying that it is the "client" (just as the Denon would be) and the TV is the "master" ...
