Upconvert DVD player? (worth the purchase?)

Yup, its 1080p, but I rent a lot more DVDs than I buy. So, until there is a standard and the DVD rentals are in HD or Blue-Ray, there's no point in me buying one of those players I guess. Main thing was if it really crisps up my standard DVDs more than Progressive Scan I'd buy one, but it...

Upconvert DVD player? (worth the purchase?)

So, I've always been happy with my Sony Progressive scan player that I've had for a few years. Good remote, nice menus, fine picture. Now, for less than $100 at Best Buy I can get a good name Upconvert DVD player (Sony, LG, Philips, Samsung...Yamaha for a bit more). Is it worth it or...

Dumping DVR recordings to DVD via my PC...

    Progressive Scan DvD - Should I ??

I was just in the store looking at DVD Recorders and I noticed that most of the DVD players these days say "Upconvert" on them. Something about upconverting the signal to near HD resolution. Is this the same thing as my Progressive scan DVD player, or is this some new tech that has been developed?

Dumping DVR recordings to DVD via my PC...

Thanks. I ended up walking through Best Buy today (looking for video cards and DVD Recorders) and I came across the "Dazzle DVD Recorder." For $50 it plugs into my USB port, includes and S-Video input, and allegedly can dump directly to the DVD. If that works, its a cheaper/easier solution...

Dumping DVR recordings to DVD via my PC...

Hmmm...yeah, I would expect I'd dump it out the standard Video connection or the S-Video port. It is nothing that I need super high quality, I just don't want it to degrade noticeably. So, looking for a tip on a good video input card to buy. Another post mentioned the WinTV card (i think)...

Dumping DVR recordings to DVD via my PC...

Okay, I admit it...I need the Idiots Guide to DVD creation (from my PVR) I finally upgraded to HD and am getting the Dish 622. The thing is, I currently have a 501 and 508 with some recordings that I'd like to keep. I can easily record them to VHS, but these days it doesn't seem quite worth...
