    Trouble with Firefox

Do you use the Adblock plus addon? It is available for both browsers but it is much more effective in Firefox. Give it a test run with some of the pages you go to often. Try each browser without Adblock. Then try each browser with Adblock. I did this a long time ago and reported my results...

    Trouble with Firefox

This worked for me: With Firefox fully closed, you can hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset). If Firefox is visible, go ahead and disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration as a workaround for a possible graphics...

    Trouble with Firefox

I set up firefox for the first time on a samsung laptop running Windows 7 at work yesterday. I experienced the same black window as you. I'm not sure what happened but it cleared its self up after a few minutes unexpectedly. I went home a few minutes later so I didn't have a chance to tinker...

    HTPCs

I've tried a bunch of stuff over the years. Roku with Netflix and Plex provides me with plenty of content and you don't need to dedicate a computer to it. Plex runs unobtrusively in the background on my laptop feeding content to the Roku while I use the laptop to check facebook or play simple...

Firefox Gets a Brand New, Even More Customizable Design

I have been using firefox for a long time and it has always been easy to rearrange everything, until now. In this version certain things that were movable aren't anymore and its pissing me off. I usually put the contents of the bookmarks toolbar and the address bar in the menu bar and then...

Chrome OS to replace XP on an old machine?

In my experience dell xp sp3 disks will work on any computer that has an xp coa sticker. You just have to match a home disk with a home coa or a pro disk with a pro coa. Anyone running xp, I'd recommend they upgrade, especially if they are going to do a fresh install anyway.

Chrome OS to replace XP on an old machine?

Buy a Dell xp sp3 disk and use it with your xp coa. You can find them on ebay and other places for $5-20. Make sure you use a home disk with a home coa and a pro disk with a pro coa. Other than that don't worry if you have a HP or some other brand computer. It will work...

Chrome OS to replace XP on an old machine?

I know some people are buying new chromebooks. With the end of support of XP can the chrome OS be installed on these old machines that were running xp? I know some of you would lean me toward linux but I don't see people buying linux computers for home use. I do see them buying chromebooks.

There are so many jerks out there today trying to steal your identity or empty your account. I'd upgrade.

    Essential Computer Repair Tools?

I recently became a MRR. Windows 7 Pro for $6 and Office for $6 more, if they are going to low income or tax exempt entities. You have to buy at least 20 copies of each at a time. I haven't looked into regular pricing for regular folks. I believe it is about $100 for a 3 pack of Windows 7...

    Essential Computer Repair Tools?

We will be scrapping and refurbishing. I'm considering an air compressor for blowing out computers and possibly to run some pneumatic screwdrivers. I'm concerned about employees blasting dust around and getting it in their eyes. It would be nice to have something to use during the winter...

    Essential Computer Repair Tools?

I've been doing this for years as my own small business but I've been hired by a company to do it on a larger scale. I'm looking for help filling in the gaps on things I've forgotten and ideas I haven't thought of. I'll keep posting here in case this list helps someone else someday. More...

    Essential Computer Repair Tools?

I was just reading posts on another forum about cordless drivers for computer work. There is an increased chance of stripped screws. Anyone have a cordless screwdriver that they really love? Lightweight with a clutch would probably be best.

    Essential Computer Repair Tools?

Was this the original drive? If you bought it, was it under warranty? I forget if WD gives you 3 or 5 years on retail drives.

Reported Amazon game controller appears in pictures

Perhaps it is a prototype and the final product will be nicer. After reading some of the comments, my guess is it will be a controller to be used in conjunction with a kindle, perhaps a kindle that doesn't exist yet, with games available via prime membership.

    Is my hard drive failing?

I'll give any of you $2 for a laptop with Windows 8 on it. I'll sweeten the deal by keeping the wretched cat and not making you take her. I have a copy of Hiren's. Some of the tools on there seem like they shouldn't be free. Usually if someone gives you pay software for free, there is a...
