    Apple's Airport dual channel issues

I have always given the 5 GHZ a different name, I want to control which network I connect to, not let my devices decide.

Best ways to speed up an old Macbook?

I have put every new version of OSX up to the current version of Mavericks on my Core2Duo Macbook Pro and it has never slowed down due to updating the operating system. I do have the max of 4 GB of ram installed.

Apple Event on October 22, 2013

Mac sleep mode works so well, I never use shutdown. If the battery gets very low, it will do a shutdown anyway. Hold the power button for 1.5 seconds for the choices dialog or hold for 5 seconds for forced shutdown.

Also, once you start an app that is not in the dock, to keep it in the dock permanently, just drag it's doc icon to another spot in the dock or right click on it and select keep in dock.

    iMac 21.5 Desk Top

I have that exact model which I also bought referb about a year ago. It's been a great computer. I added another 8GB for almost nothing, next upgrade will be a SSD.

Any OSX install disk will work, Mac system software isn't serialized. Find any friend with a disk and you're good to go or take it to an Apple store where support is always free.

I broke the glass on my Ipad....options?

My wife did the same thing except it landed on the edge and caved it in and also broke the glass. Went to the Apple store and explained what happened and he said as a one time courtesy, Apple would replace it. Went in the back and returned with a referb that looked perfect, no charge and we did...

    Just ordered my new computer

I just ordered an additional 8GB of memory for my new iMac for $47 from OWC. Never dreamed I would ever have 12GB of memory in my personal computer. That's 96,000 times what my first Mac had (1/8MB) and was not expandable!

    network question

I don't think this works anymore. I used to do that but after upgrading to Snow Lepoard it would not work. I got a 1TB Time Capsule two years ago, it's backing up four Macs and still has 600 MB free.

The reason there's no Ethernet port on the Air is the socket is thicker than the computer! Can't live without built-in Ethernet, buy a fatter computer.

Sling works, I watched the Evening News yesterday at my sister's house. It's a bit blurry since it is for iPhone and double sized. My sling is the Classic so it should work for Solo too. Hope the iPad version still works with my old Sling.

    Who's buying a tablet?

I'm definitely buying one. Used an iPhone for two weeks on vacation instead of taking a laptop and the only issue was the tiny screen and it wasn't that bad.
