Voom Box is DEAD and no OTA

I got my bill about 10 days ago for the period of April 2 through May 2. I paid the full charge, knowing that they were going to shut off the signal at the end of April. I would expect that they will send a refund of the unused portion of this charge, but I'm not going to sweat 2 days worth of...

    Cablevision board meeting today???

Seems to be a lot of people who wish the board meeting had something to do with a good, thick board getting swung upside J. Dolan's head.

    Payment for Referrals

The free month of programming comes after your referral has been installed. Voom could tell you that the install never took place, so no dice. Best case--you get May programming for free, but it doesn't look good for THAT to happen. Probably not a battle worth fighting.

NEWSDAY : Voom loyalists lament the loss of the service

Hilary Johnson called my home phone Friday afternoon while I was at work. She left a message that asked me to call back because she was doing an article on 'the end of Voom'. By the time I got home at 6PM, it was already 8PM in Long Island, so I never talked to her. In her message, she said...

    Return of Equipment

I finally realized the true benefit of having purchased the STB. No need to deal with whatever return policy they invent. That's gotta be worth something.

    Another Move????

Uh oh. Small math error. Turning around the 15-0 vote to the point where two guys vote to keep it running would make it 13-2. But the result is the same; shut down time.

Extra receiver for Box Owners $299 *

Cancelled additional receiver installation / purchase. Makes no sense whatsoever to proceed down that path, in light of what is happening today. I'll keep what I have and see what happens during the rest of this month.

Extra receiver for Box Owners $299 *

Probably right, Walter. They scheduled the installation for 4/11, so I can cancel up till 4/10. We'll see what happens this next week.

Extra receiver for Box Owners $299 *

Confirmed. I got the deal for a new receiver as an add-on. It is $299 and that includes installation and up to 125 feet of RG-6. Currently I have VaVaVoom, and have had it since January 2004 @ 79.90 per month. They are giving me a price break for the next two months, and charging 39.90 + 5...

Voom promises of 50 channels, price reduction, etc

For Box owners wishing to add a receiver.... Called and asked about adding an additional receiver, and told the CSR that I'm a box owner. Asked if I could lease a second box. Nope--cannot mix purchased box with a leased box. Well, OK. Shoot me a deal for a second box. Second box can be...

IS Cablevison going to be sold to finance VOOM?

No way. It's been 51 years since I had a diaper. I'll drive off a cliff before I even think of wearing one again. :D

IS Cablevison going to be sold to finance VOOM?

This indicates that the CVC stock rates a "hold" and says a Voom dump is part of the reason. There is other speculation that CVC will be sold in an effort to fund the continuation of Voom. There appear to be lots of guesses about what might happen, but very little concrete evidence of any...

Malone Voices Skepticism About Voom's Chances

I'll get you the meaning of the authorization code when I get home from work. I printed the DSR550 technical manual and there is a table of all the different meanings. I'm right there with you on the mental thing. The fact that we have no facts is messed up. Malone says 'I wouldn't do it...

Cablevision Enters into Interim Agreement Regarding VOOM

I look at it this way. Mr. Dolan has 3 weeks to find a way to finance the Voom venture and come up with a plan to make it profitable within a reasonable amount of time. Cablevision is not liable for expenses above what they would have paid to shut off the service, so we are now assured of...

DirecTV CEO leaving...could it be to head the New Voom

President and CEO, and they aren't going to replace him? That seems odd to me. T2k is right about the executive contract and the non-compete clause that is usually part of it. Mr. Stern held the current position for 14 months, and went accross a year-end, so he probably stuck around long...

    Mr. Dolan we don't want. . .

Don--My comment on your proposed resolution would be 'good one'. Everybody wins in the end (even the FCC). And the after-effect would make E* the HD leader, giving incentive to D* to improve on what they offer. I don't see how that could be bad.

    March 7th........ The end????

I think Charles Dolan has the financing arranged, and some kind of agreement is in the works with E*. With this latest board-stacking move, I think he has the voting power he needs to be able to continue with Voom. Probably NOT as a seperate entity, but I could see Voom surviving as an add-on...
