    Been using mine for the Cleveland locals all along with the living room tv. Got my daughter's from her to use with the bedroom tv. Both have been working great. For those who may have wondered, re-scanning for locals does no harm, and does not deactivate the box.

    Lots of the V* boxes being sold on ebay. Since there is no real manual for these units, buyers are going to have trouble scanning for available OTA in their particular areas. Stations already scanned in one these boxes for one area will be completely useless in other areas. Only us Voomers...

    What is a Transponder?

    Transponders are satellite channels. A typical satellite has 24 analog channels which can also be sub-divided into more digitally. Only need to pay any attention to them on a C-Band(large) dish. Some of the newer satellites have more transponders than the older 24 versions.

    No, it is SD only. Widescreen or not would depend upon how this display is set-up on the TV.

    Just an afterthought---gray bars are ok according to Toshiba. Unfortunately the V* STB doesn't allow the option of changing from black to gray. My Toshiba set does, but am unable to do so when using the STB.

    As discussed here in the past, the black bars are generated by the local stations. Not by V*. Having the black bars show for an extended period of time can do harm to a standard crt RP set. What I do, is switch during commercials when viewing a non HD program. Better safe than sorry.
