I'm sure they'll launch the new channels. But they'll just be slides that say, "April Fools!" And they'll be stretched, not 16x9. :D

Yay, Indy locals (most of them). Also, WTTV (the CW affiliate here) is uplinked.

So much for my "move" to Denver. With Indy HD locals not coming until March (so they say), I have to live on just OTA. No recording two HD network programs at the same time for a little while. Oh well.

I "moved" to Denver, too, so I'll lose those, but my Indy HD locals were already uplinked, so no problem -- as long as the changes happen at the same time. :) My dad will be happy with Dayton HD locals!

    Uplink Activity Report - 1/14/2009 1:02am - 418 changes

Happy to see Indy HD locals finally! Surprised they're on 129 -- would think they'd be part of Eastern Arc -- but I'm relieved that they are on 129 because that's what I already have. I'm not a pro at reading these reports, but it looks like about 27 new temp HD channels. That's a lot more HD...

Good thing I read it here; otherwise, I'd think APL was "The Apple Channel." D

Is UNIHD being made available to all HD customers for the Olympics?

Probably because we already knew they were coming. No surprises. :D Anyone else see the irony in a channel called HIDEF being in mpeg 2 SD? :)

Journey to where? To 129 to improve that location, or maybe all the way over to one of the Eastern Arc locations? I would imagine it would take many many months to make the journey all the way over to Eastern Arc.

Congrats to those who got HD locals. For the rest of us, though, a very blah report. :)

I wonder if such a deal with Tribune is a good sign for Indianapolis locals (the Fox and CW affiliates here are owned by them). Dish already has the deal with LIN for the CBS affiliate -- just two others to go (not sure who owns them). :)

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 5/22/2008 4:09pm - 49 changes

Well, hope springs eternal. :) I'd like to see Voom back, too (though in an abbreviated form) and it seemed Dish did, too, since they kept the channels uplinked for a time after removing them from the tables. But with this activity, it seems like any talks have stalled or Dish and Voom aren't...

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 5/22/2008 4:09pm - 49 changes

Among those other 8 channels might be 2 others that Scott dropped some hints about earlier in the week (one of them being perhaps the most requested channel since SciFi and USA launched). :)

My only complaint is that I can't go home right now and watch them! :D Go Dish! Glad I stuck with ya! :)

Uplink Report 5/08/08 6:20 PM EDT 69 changes all DELETES

Wouldn't switching the SD and HD channels from mpeg 2 to mpeg 4 improve the quality right out of the gate, without them doing anything else (such as increasing bit rates)?

Uplink Activity 4/30/08 1:25 PM EDT

No chance. I got what I really wanted: SciFi HD (for BSG and Eureka in the summer) and USA HD (for Burn Notice in the summer), plus the bonus of CNN HD. I'll continue to wait patiently for more HD, plus my locals (I "moved" for HD locals, plus have all my HD locals OTA, so I'm in no hurry...

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 4/9/2008 1:00pm - 178 changes

Did you read his original post? He said, "That may be true of a small number of HDTV buyers, but I would guess the majority of them understand the difference between SD and HD channels." He's talking about HDTV owners, not all TV viewers. Yes, 230 out of 1,002 people watching HDTV is...

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 4/9/2008 1:00pm - 178 changes

Sorry, but that article actually supports what Jason said: Of those surveyed who have an HDTV, 56% subscribe to an HD service. That's a majority. But who knows what the other 44% are doing with their HDTVs. :)

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 4/9/2008 1:00pm - 178 changes

Well, this was disappointing. But Scott's contacts (or the first memo) did say April 10th originally. Maybe today was HD locals, and tomorrow is national HD. (I wish we had an icon for someone grasping at straws. :) )

Has anyone actually turned on their TVs and checked the channel guide to see if there's anything new? Or are ALL of us at work...? :)

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 4/2/2008 7:00am - 1 change

The Dish folks must be skipping work to attend the press conference announcing the DishDirect merger. Gus and the rest of the uplink guys are in a downtown Denver diner waiting for Charlie and Malone to show up. ;)

    DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 3/26/2008 1:24pm - 210 changes

Join the club. Indianapolis was supposed to be added two years ago, and was uplinked for almost a year and then downlinked (is that a word?) rather unceremoniously. It's painful to watch and get jerked around like this.
