Do I have to restate this every time that Dish uplinks a PBS in HD ?? The Bay Area has FOUR PBS HD Channels. The Bay Area has probably the most local HD channels. The FCC requires Dish by 2013 to uplink all local HD channels in any market that they uplink any local HD channel. And the FCC...

I believe that this was done on a win-win basis - due to Mad Men, AMC wants higher ratings, and Dish adds 14 million subscribers .... people are now choosing not to watch SD programming - in another thread, someone said that he needed PBS-HD because his kids were used to watching their PBS shows...

I would say that NY and LA would be the last cities to get the rest of the locals in HD, because there are so many of them. Can't you get KCET PBS OTA ? It has HD plus the Orange County channel plus the V-Me channel plus PBS World channel.

Until a judge rules that they can temporarily ignore the PBS provisions of the STELA bill, during th e litigation period of the lawsuit, they still have to abide by the provisions.

Strange - it was added to Alaska/Hawaii, but not due to Dish Latino or PR... even though all have Food Network HD...

The STELA bill says "all new HD markets added must include all PBS in HD" period, full stop. So, if Dish is challenging the 50% PBS in HD additions by the end of 2010, then they would want to wait on adding any new HD markets... Also note that STELA provides for cancelation of the PBS...
