    Madam Secretary

Yes, this season has been weaker than last, owing to the loss of the conspiracy theory arc. But the show runners probably realized that they couldn't jump start another when they closed it last season. Usually, a series like this needs three seasons to hit its stride.

    SNL

Hadn't watched SNL in decades until Alec Baldwin started doing Trump. Now it's must-see TV in our house.

    Madam Secretary

There's no hard-edged story arc the way there was a season ago, appealing characters aren't getting blown up, and Henry isn't getting himself into mortal danger or needing to make life-altering decisions. Wonder if that came from the network or if the writers just decided to pull back. Whatever...

Disagree. I think it's the general, Cochrane.

    HBO's Westworld

Starting to strike me a little like Lost -- a continuing story arc with no resolution. Also, a lot of suspension of disbelief required. Plus, we've seen the concept of AI awakening. Thinking this won't hit its stride until season 2, if it lasts that long.

Disagree. There's just so much you can do with the concept of good number/bad number. I liked the branching of the story arc that involved government officials who thought they were benefiting from Samaritan. And had the series continued I think we would have seen some good character episodes...

Could also be an experiment to see if traditional broadcast net viewers would binge-watch a traditional broadcast network show. Now that CBS (and other broadcast nets) have streaming outlets, they could be testing the waters for a new way of distributing scripted programming.

    Blue Bloods

I like the show, but it would be better if one of the family really stepped into it sometime, and was really in the wrong. (And no, doesn't count.)

Where? Can't find it in News.

    Good bye al jazeera america

AJAM was doomed from the outset because of the way U.S. systems operator executives reacted to its name. Thanks to the neocons following 9/11, Al Jazeera was always perceived -- falsely -- as an Al Qaeda propaganda instrument. Conservatives in America presumed AJAM would be the same.

Detective in the NYPD is a level of achievement, that usually gets you into the investigative units such as Homicide. Plus, you usually can't be appointed to the upper echelons at 1 Police Plaza until you've made Detective.

Baker has become the Lt. Uhura of "Blue Bloods."

Wouldn't be too sure. That's what critics were saying about the HR storyline last season. I think you'll find a resolution -- but with a bizarre twist.

    The X-Files reboot?

Hopefully, they won't do a "reunion" theme, just rewind back before the series ender and the awful movies.

    Blue Bloods

You'll agree more if you read Chief. It's a memoir from Albert Seedman, a former NYC Chief of Detectives, who died in 2013. He was in that position during some of the most headline-gripping and bizarre cases of the Sixties and Seventies. He was a remarkable character, and the cases truly read...

One of our home's favorite TV series, but . . . does anyone get the impression that it's infected with Lost syndrome? Start with a particular premise and go any which way that strikes the producers' fancy?

Considering that nothing seems to be random in this show, and that , I don't see how it could end any way but badly.
  18. Bronxiniowa

    Person of Interest

No -- but I think the producers quickly realized that the original premise, if left alone, would be repetitive. (How many times can you watch John shoot someone in the knee?) IMHO it takes imagination and creativity to develop a kernel into a juicy ear of corn. There's now far more tension in...

    Elementary

The second season for a series often is the make or break year, with the series hitting its stride in the third year, if it survives. Don't know why this is so, but seems to be the case most of the time.
  20. Bronxiniowa

    Elementary

It's starting to get tedious. Holmes is predictable, and he spends 10 minutes in every episode prying into other people's lives. The cases haven't been very compelling lately either.

Fredp, Jim Caviezel is a better actor than you give him credit for. (You can even find plenty of photos of him smiling!) It's his character that is portrayed as being robotic. But we know his dispassion is just a shield -- after all he and Shaw were trained as killer machines by the U.S...
