It is not really a surprise, contracts make long running shows much more expensive. 6 seasons is about the limit unless a show performs very well or can change out actors to new lower paid ones... 100 episodes used to be the magic number, now 80 is good enough... 5.5 years of Grimm is way...

Not surprised it was cancelled. I liked the show, but it stalled mid season and became an unremarkable procedural show. It tried to move from a Science Fiction show to a crime drama. Not a good fit.

This show still on? But, seriously I would have preferred a new Dr. announcement...

I have not watched any of this season. They are all sitting on the DVR. It is not must see TV for me, but during the summer I will probably catch up. If it is not worthy of summer fare, then I will cut the timer.

I know who the comics say was killed by Negan, but I think it will be someone else at first and probably the comic person later to drag it out. I the episode was too long. Essentially they were being herded into where Negan wanted them to go.... I would have loved an RPG to hit Negan's men...

She also married someone from Glee... Ryder Lynn (Blake Jenner in real life) There are all sorts of Glee connections, many young stars appeared on there.

I think it is a matter of budget... They want low cost actors.

The two kids that played Sam and Ron must be fairly good actors, they actually seemed likable in their video interview.

The original actors probably have no desire to continue with the series... They have already done their years and have moved on. Fox probably paid a huge amount of money to get them for these episodes.

I would not pay to watch it (i.e. buy the series), but if you can get it free (netflix? hulu? Amazon? DVR recordings?) it is OK.

Given that it is a limited run, it does not really matter what the ratings are, they have shot all the episodes and they will just air them.

I watched and enjoyed the season. There were some good song productions in there.

Trimming episodes is a way to cancel a show and not admit it... It is not going to be back... It had the second lowest ratings on NBC. It looks like the networks have changed strategies this year. Instead of yanking shows off the air after cancellation, they play the rest of the episodes out...

I watched the first episode. It was interesting enough to get me to watch more to see where it goes. There are a lot of directions it could go based on the pilot. I am hoping for more of the supernatural vs procedural crime drama.

It has a science fiction element so of course FOX will kill it...

I still have not warmed up to Capaldi. Somehow to me he comes across as smug, it would not bother me at all if he was replaced.

I plan on watching it a while longer. Although I do not think the ratings are high enough for it to survive.
