GE--I'm very interested in your perception of the reception, once you have it installed. I'll post back here too after I get D* up and running.

GEBrown -- I went with D*, but I thought hard about cable. I've had satellite service for the last 10 years, and my last experience with cable was a 6 month period when we were waiting for our house to be built. It seemed like it went out every week, and my wife just can't get over it, even...

Yes. I bought the HR10-250, and I'm looking forward to that. I've always recorded using a DVD recorder, which can't reproduce HD, but it was good enough for a while. I'm sure D* will be fine once I get used to it. Thanks for the note x1.

Well--it has been interesting, but I'm switching to D*. Ordered equipment today from Value Electronics (a sponsor of satelliteguys), so the installation will probably be later this week. Sorry to see Voom go, but not much I can do about it. Just pick another provider and get used to it. I'll...

Not any more. Decision time is quickly approaching, so it looks like E*, D* or Comcast. Could also bail on cable/satellite altogether, and just live with OTA and rented or self-recorded DVD's.

Good to see you 'boys' are still active. I'm with plyall--leaning toward D*. I've got serious doubts about 'vooming' any time past 3/31, especially since Malone came out with his latest statement. True, they have added some channels this month, but none of them were HD channels. Adding HD to...

I think you and I are the only people in Colorado that still have Voom. We are the only ones who seem to post in this thread.

2-1 and 2-2 are back. Checked tonight, and both channels had the same show in HD.

It is local. It has happened on channel 2 from time to time, and it is always because of something the station is doing. Channel 2-1 and 2-2 will re-appear within a couple of days.

Looks like our Colorado Voomers thread is falling into the trash heap too. I'd like to know if either D* or E* will come up with any special incentives for us to switch, but I doubt it. If they don't do any incentive, they are still likely to get at least one third of Voom's current customers...

My installation was in January 2004, and the original OTA was a Stealthtenna. I don't think that Voom is still installing that type of antenna. I was able to get the major networks with that antenna, but could not get channel 7. Voom came back and replaced the original antenna with an 8 bay...

Well.....honestly, the Cinema channels leave a lot to be desired. They show some good movies from time to time, but there are a lot of repeats, and you're right--definitely grade-B most of the time. MonstersHD is popular, and I've gotten to the point where I really like the RaveHD channel...

Wiltron--wait a little while and see if the DVR gets closer to a reality, and see what happens with the new channels additions. If you order before the promotion ends, they will still give it to you for $1. Plyall--I've read about the problems with the Dish 921, and their new model is...

Comcast has their DVR available in the Denver area now. DVR 6412, which is made by Motorola. I don't know anything about how good their service is, or what they offer for channel selection since I haven't had cable for years.

That's an excellent observation. The DBS companies make as many promises as the political candidates do. At least Voom is not bombarding us with taped phone messages.

OK guys. Twelve days without any Colorado activity. I saw where twodutys from Brighton is cancelling. My buddy slacker is back to D*. x1hdtv is out, and a bunch of others. Is there anyone left who is waiting out the rest of the year to see what happens?

Oct 15---all set for game 3 of Yankees vs. Red Sox. Turn on the TV and switch to channel 31, and ........NO SIGNAL. Rain fade, I suppose. OTA signal strength was 82, but that ain't gonna get it. Maybe I can catch the end of the game. Programming is back on at 8:49, so the game must be...

Still pondering, but getting a little tired of waiting for news of WM9, elliptical, new satellite, and DVR. The ST deal ends on 10/31, and people can still get the 6 month HD free deal at the same time. I'd go for HD Tivo, and a second HD receiver, but VE gives satellite guys a 10% discount...

Armyman, Welcome back to CONUS. I was in the 101st a long time ago, but still remember the abbreviations. Also had to pull some reserve duty at Ft. Carson--but on to Voom. Line of sight is to the East, and is much different than Dish. Be sure to check that out first. There have...
