Yep. I find Tuesdays to be a bit odd as most stations with shopping type programming put the children's and public affairs programing on Sundays. Watch on days when the home shopping stations are off the air. On Christmas and New Years WQEX ran evey single special from the Pittsburgh History...

It is like that every Tuesday. FCC rules require so many hours of children's and public affairs programming per week and WQED puts that programming on WQEX on Tuesdays.

:( Yep, the EPG had been worked on for the past couple weeks. I just hope we can use the STBs for OTA and have the PSIP data incorporated into the EPG.

Report channels missing from the Super-DMA

Most of the initial problems in the Pittsburgh DMA have been fixed over the past couple weeks. Every few days one of the errors would be fixed. Incase it was overlooked two errors remain. The guide data for 57-1 WTOV-Steubenville should be moved to 9-1. WTOV sends PSIP data so it gets scanned...

That's a good question. I don't know. I assume the VOOM box can only receive guide data from the satellite. If it came from the stations you would think 53-2 would have data too.

    Pittsburgh-West (including Wheeling/Steubenville) Voomers

I haven't noticed, but this evening WPGH is at 99. I've also noticed that VOOM is working on the channel map as listings for 22-2 are now up, not that they are different from 22-1.

Cool, what kind of antenna did he put up? I've never had much luck with rotors. They end up burning up becase I use far to big of an antenna, lightning fries them or the motor freezes up from rust.

Report channels missing from the Super-DMA

Scotty, did you try to reboot or leave your receiver off at night. You're the only one that didn't get it. BTW I thought at least you should get WTOV http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=DS1021535.html The channels in the new list are : 2-KDKA 3-WPSX 4-WTAE 6-WJAC 11-WPXI...

    Voom & OTA

You need the OTA antenna to watch locals. It doesn't have to have the OTA antenna connected to get the sat channels. A satellite dish connected to the receiver would be helpful though :D

Report channels missing from the Super-DMA

Pittsburgh received the Super-DMA today and it has mistakes :) I have listed the mistakes in order of severity. WQEX-Pittsburgh, PA RF:26 Analog:16 PSIP data is 16-1 listing is no info. This staion is located in downtown Pittsburgh and it's digital channel has been licensed since last...

Sorry to hear that Tim, when WTOV completes it's upgrade it will cover all of Pittsburgh and should be easily received. I do notice a number of mistakes in the new guide. WTOV is listed on 57, it sends PSIP data so I get it listed as 9-1 with no info and 57-1 with guide data. No really...

Sure, go for it. Be careful though. One degree isn't anything, antennas aren't that directional. Let me know what you find. It figures Radio Shack tried to sell you something else.

FCC to act on WNPA's channel assignment Finally nothing like waiting for action for almost a decade :( They probably started this action because WNPA said it couldn't make a channel choice when their channel request was still outstanding. Anyway the FCC also made a mistake by allocating...

I would say the Cat# 930-0998 would be good for testing and is $14.99. It is 300Ohm so you'll need an adapter for 75Ohm Cat# 15-1296 it is $4.99. If you ever get a portable TV and don't want a 3rd VOOM receiver you'll be all set. The FM trap I was talking about and the one that I use is...

    Pittsburgh-West (including Wheeling/Steubenville) Voomers

Ok, yep you have an amp and I don't think the amp comes out on the sensor. Airports will kill a signal. Yes, an airport is a massive interference generator and will cause massive amounts of multipath. Over in Imperial it is almost impossible to receive television because of Pit International...

    Pittsburgh-West (including Wheeling/Steubenville) Voomers

Ah, this may be your problem. Did the installer install the antenna with a pre-amp? What you are experienceing sounds a lot like multipath. In the analog world it would be ghosting. You can test to see if multipath is your problem by going to the installers menu, channel tuning and checking...

Zombie, about where are you located and what kind of antenna are you using. Ch.4 used to be a problem for almost everyone, but they are now at maximum power. Chs. 2,11,22,53 are all on the North Side, 13,16 in Oakland, and 4,40 are way to the south near Westmorland County.

I'll have to check to see when all the channel choice rounds are over. The current one is done. I didn't think of the confusion it may cause if another station poped up on an old channel, but the FCC's intention is to allocate and auction the channels that weren't chosen. I think in the...

Before I go on into some things Scotty was asking I just wanted to let everyone know that WQEX-DT is back up and sending full PSIP data and you should be able to scan it in. Yep, I know it is home shopping, but it is another channel and makes good background noise. For some reason when I'm so...

    Pittsburgh-West (including Wheeling/Steubenville) Voomers

The local channels are put in by your channel map. In our case map 21-Pittsburgh. When you scan, additional channels are added and saved that weren't originally on the map. The new "super" map was supposed to be released for Pittsburgh yesterday, but it appears it wasn't sent. I don't blame...

Scotty, Tim did you look at the Local Channels menu this morning? Pittsburgh was supposed to get the Super-DMA update last night. After checking the local channels menu and rebooting this morning I didn't get it. I read that the Super DMA will include channels in which the FCC digital service...

WQEX can normally be received down here when they are on the air. It doesn't scan in on the VOOM receiver since they don't send a station name. Still even at SD home shopping looks spectacular. Hey, WTOV-Steubenville doubled it's power in December is anyone now receiving it? BTW WTAE is now...

    Pittsburgh-West (including Wheeling/Steubenville) Voomers

I don't mind the shopping on WQEX as much as I disliked the WQED simulcast. The contract is only for 3 years so perhaps in a few years something else will be on. It's one of those stations for noise when I'm doing something else. CH. 29 is a LPTV station in analog and you won't get a scan...

    Pittsburgh-West (including Wheeling/Steubenville) Voomers

WQEX-DT ch.26 is now on the air. They aren't sending a channel name, so it won't scan in. They are sending a channel ID as 16-1. I receive it fine on my other STB. There aren't any problems with the transmission, although the programming may not be apealing. What I find amaizing is that...

Cool, Maybe turning the antenna a bit will get you KDKA all the time and WPGH. WPXI uses a little less power than KDKA and WPGH. WTOV is having major problems. Parts of the transmitter fried. I haven't checked them today though. The long term plan for WTOV is to provide the regular channel...
