    101w

MGM+ is available on Amazon Prime Video's channels and has better audio/visual quality than the linear versions on C-band anyway. I'd recommend just sourcing the Amazon versions instead.

Difference between MPEG 2 and MPEG 4

MPEG-2 is a trash video codec from 1996 that handles compression very poorly and needs obscene bitrates >40 Mbps to not be filled with macroblocking and detail loss. H.264 is from the mid-2000's, much better, and doesn't macroblock at low bitrates. It can look as good as >40 Mbps MPEG-2 at...

Wartime FTA satellite TV Jamming story...

I sure am glad we don't have to live under authoritarian regimes like these unfortunate enough to be living in European countries. No problem whatsoever receiving RT Documentary HD via C-band in the Americas. And we get unimpaired access to RT's website and live streams. A government telling me...

    PBS on 125

Great place to catch PBS shows they don't put on their PBS Documentaries channel on Amazon, like Austin City Limits. The 125W feeds have no channel logos too so it's less like getting stuff from a TV channel with the usual garbage plastered in the bottom right corner and it's more like getting...

Buy FTA Ku data with Bitcoin - receive with flat dishes?!

Bitcoin cannot be mined with graphics cards. The answer you're looking for is Ethereum. And yes, this crypto bull market is awesome. My RTX 3090 has already paid for itself from the mining profits. PC gaming is the only hobby that makes you money.

Don't you like cranked down video cameras video frame rate feeds?

Oh yes. I can't wait to see more high framerate non-video game material. My current monitor is a 5120x1440 @ 240 Hz, so there is definitely a huge benefit from playing video games at 30 -> 60 FPS, and a rather noticeable benefit going even further from 60 -> 120 FPS. After 120 FPS though I start...

Don't you like cranked down video cameras video frame rate feeds?

I can certainly tell a difference between something filmed at 25 fps and something that's 29.97 fps. Have watched many a live event captured from satellite either over North America or the European satellites (it pays to have European friends who are into FTA satellite), and the American ones...

Don't you like cranked down video cameras video frame rate feeds?

I don't know as I never watch that channel. However, 25 FPS is the standard framerate for TV broadcasts in Europe, the Middle East and Australia, so that feed is being uplinked to 97W at its native framerate. Additionally, all my displays support 25p so there's no issue watching 25/50 content...

Don't you like cranked down video cameras video frame rate feeds?

I don't know what you're talking about. I never see 25 fps feeds in North America.

How's the FTA Equipment Supply Chain Doing?

I knew outsourcing manufacturing to China was a mistake. The Americans should have exploited Mexico for the mass production of all their cheap crap, not the Chinese.

Wanting the best fta receiver that isn't hacking.

The best receiver is called a PC.

    4:2:2 Chroma

Depends on the truck but I've got a Cybertruck on pre-order and it looks way comfier than any car I've ever had. I'd definitely rather go road tripping in my Cybertruck than some little car. The PC is a Cybertruck.

    4:2:2 Chroma

It's called a PC and you should have one hooked up to your TV anyway. I tried using one of those receiver boxes and wow, what a pain in the ass. So much more difficult and slower to use than a PC. Don't understand the hype. I have no clue how the normies function without a PC connected to...

    Video Editing Info Needed..............

NBC muxes are Tandberg phase-aligned mp2 audio. You have to use a tool such as Audacity to create a single 5.1 audio track out of the first three audio pairs.

All the SES 4K channels will be going fiber only on January 1, 2021.

Just an FYI. Travelxp, Insight, etc on 101W. They''re moving to Zixi. NASA 4K should remain on 127W. Hey Brian, remember that time you called me Chicken Little and tried to damage control by claiming that C-band wasn't going to gradually lose channels to fiber due to the 5G auction? ;) I've...

Rick is very banhappy and it happens at random. You don't even realize you posted something that was going to upset and him and then bam, random ban. You don't really realize how much he bans people from his forum until it happens to you because he sweeps everything under the rug without...

Bad News for C Band from the FCC

Seems we have another victim: the NESN networks mux that was on AMC-11 has been dropped and I don't see a replacement uplink for them anywhere. NESN joins the Spectrum SportsNet mux on Galaxy 17 and the NBC SportsNet Northwest channel on Galaxy 14 in the growing list of regional sports networks...

Bad News for C Band from the FCC

Not happy about the effects this will have on 43W/55W/58W/113W/117W at all. There's lots of great feeds and channels on those satellites. Fortunately, for now at least, NHK World and CGTN muxes are located above 4 GHz. An even more disturbing effect this is going to have is encouraging more...

125 W and PBS East has one of the best video quality signals

All those PBS feeds on 125W look the same and they are pretty good quality. Not quite as good as the CBS or NBC fronthauls but better quality than ABC or Fox to be sure. They also look better than the cable networks. But of course backhaul feeds blow all the 24/7 feeds away in the picture...

possibly getting a 6footer soon, whats to be expected?

You should be able to get some things. NHK World @ 58W is a real gem that comes in well on a 6 footer. I'd suggest over-engineering the pole height and concrete pad you pour for it so that you could potentially upgrade the mounted dish to be up to 12 feet in diameter. Once you get the taste of...

    Better than HEVC codices?

Japan has had an 8K HLG HDR channel for about a year now receivable via Ku band satellite. It's called NHK BS8K. You just have to buy the proprietary receiver to view it. It also has AAC 22.2 channel audio. (it also has legacy AAC 5.1 and 2.0 audio as audio IDs #2 and #3) Anyways, the...

ABC 99w Network Feeds Transitioned to DVBS2 HEVC 4:2:2

I feel like this whole concept of buying a bunch of cheap devices to stream from a PC is completely backwards. Why don't you just have your PC hooked up to your TV in the first place and watch directly from it? I have never bought a receiver in the last 8 years I've engaged in the satellite...
