    New Motor!

USALS is amazing. Been using it for about 15 years. After doing a number of installs you begin to realize what a no brainer USALS is! The only extra tools needed is a compass to locate true south and a simple inclinometer.

    What Happened to Everybody?

I'm in awe of all the free streaming programming available. The Amazon Fire TV stick is loaded with free sites with minimal ads. Also my new TabloTV receives 46 OTA stations and includes almost 50 free streaming stations. There is so much more than I ever got on the KU band! I'm still...

    Attempt at 15w

Is it possibe due to the dish falling that it is warped? It does not take much to mess up the focal point. I dropped a 33" dish and I could never peak it right.

    Attempt at 15w

Instead of upside down, I tilted the mast forward when trying to receive 8W.

    RG-6 connectors

I find that holding the stubborn compression connector with a pair of adjustable pliers and the coax in the other hand takes a lot of pressure off the fingers. Twisting and turning the combination often works for me. Still a little applied heat goes a long way.

    RG-6 connectors

Its appears lately that coax for outdoor use has a very stiff outer jacket. The cable tech was recently at our home and he changed one connecter. Guess what he used a bic lighter to soften the cable end and slide the compression fitting on. Of course you don't want to overheat the coax and...

    RG-6 connectors

Why not just get the correct connectors rated for quad coax. Heating the end of the cable does help slide the connector on?

    New 1-metre Dish Installation

Wow! That is impressive. Don't understand much of what you posted. However to receive one specific sat is not a big deal! I have set up single sat KU band dishs in minutes without any issues.

    New 1-metre Dish Installation

So if there is no motor on the dish then this is a no brainer installation?

    New 1-metre Dish Installation

I find this a bit confusing. As I posted, in the Stab USALS setup there is no mention of "declination" or "inclnation" settings. I always assumed these settings had to do with polar mount dishes and not offset dishes.

    New 1-metre Dish Installation

Is that an offset dish, looks like it is. Didn't know that you had to set declination on an offset with USALS. Does declination in this case mean Latitude? On my Stab 90 there is a LAT setting on the motor as well as an elevation dish setting. No mention of declination.

    Invacom QPH-031 Ku LNB

Yup. Mine was also China! The NF is listed as .3 db. The kitchen scale comes in as 1 pound, 7 ounces. That is heavy!

    Invacom QPH-031 Ku LNB

I also have one, but not in use. There wasn't enough circular pol FTA to have the added weight on the 33" inch dish. It does perform as well as any of the current slew of low noise PLL LNBs that I own. I believe it was made in the UK and 15 years ago was not cheap. Its an excellent LNBF.

    RG-6 connectors

Add to the confusion, not all RG-6 is created equal. Some have soft flexible jackets and some have very stiff jackets. Then beware of connectors made in China, they can be tight fitting or not. Recently I have found that heating the coax to soften it works well for me. And quad does require...

I just fried my meter, didn't I? Time for a new one?

Did you use the cable that fell off? Perhaps there is a short in the coax. Try a new coax and connectors if you haven't done so.

    FTA Signal Quality

A "Standard" LNB deals with one band of satellite frequencies, and has one Local Oscillator frequency (LO) of 10750 Mhz. So, no additional switching is built into the LNB. This is the most common LNB for N. America. The "Universal" LNB deals with two bands of satellite frequencies, and has two...

    Motor woes

The lack of reset buttons on the Stab 90 has never been an issue. Besides when its -20 the last thing I would want to do is climb up a ladder to push a button. Have always been able to reset motor from the receiver.

    Motor woes

I have also upgraded the grease in my Stab 90. Also when its very cold, -20, I use H frequencies rather than V. As you are all aware the higher 18 volt H moves the motor faster and better in the cold.
