Prodelin 3.8 VSAT offset dish antenna

I would have killed to get one a few years back. I build a custom ku similar size and have lost my files But, you can do calculations to figure it out, The offset is likely the standard 22.6 degrees (the earth rotational offset angle) The long axis of the offset antenna will likely be = to...

19 laser illuminator with tuned parallel beams for checking dish shape

I think I would get a spray can of of chrome paint and chrome the dish. I've messed with mirrors using double face tape and it's a bitch on a large dish. Then, strip the paint when alignment is done.

    Rebuilding an Prodelin/Andrew 1.8

I have a couple Andrew 1.8's. I calculated where the focal point should be. Then, I bought some 1/2 metal conduit and smashed the ends flat for the support arms. Used hose clamps for the lnbs and jiggled things around until I maxed out the signal. Been working fine for years.

I need help getting a True South on dish motor

I draw a string across the antenna from top to bottom (0 and 180 degrees) crossing the center of the dish. Then I look up the exact time the sun is going to be due south on one of the web astro sites. I then move the antenna until the string shadow is striking the center of the antenna at the...

EIRP is an essential tool in determining your ability to receive reception. Both the ITU and the FCC specify the format and method of presenting the data. Those regulatory agencies provide that the dBw data used be submitted using a zero (0) offset for the center point. This makes the maps...

    How large is the "Box"

The "box" is measured in degrees. A typical FCC license specifies a longitude of +/- 0.05 degrees longitude. But, the latest Directv satellites (Boeing) have been licensed for +/- 0.025 degrees. This has allowed them to cluster more satellites at one licensed location.
