What Is Most Important to You in a FTA Receiver

Look at the Geosat microHD, and you see what I wanted -- and I still have and use when I am running. It is tiny and fits in the motor home. It is 12VDC so it goes with my LCD-LED TV and does not require an inverter. Do I need more? Not so far. I think I left it on one transponder and the clock...

Beginner's software for DVB PCIe or USB receiver?

I definitely have AC ripple problems with switching power packs on modified sine wave (AKA square wave) inverters and UPS, and several generators.

    125ku reception with 90cm??

Especially when it is a good sized channel cat! When I was in college in MO -- 1/2 century ago, a cute little gal made that two line statement rather frequently. She then said it was a southern statement and was referring to catfish! She said the small ones could best be skinned after cooking...

    No OTA because of FTA

Because of the restriction on buying and the increasing cost of ammunition, warning shots will no longer be fired. Local police said, "He was not shooting AT you, he has NEVER missed."

    No OTA because of FTA

Glad to get a little better internet so can get back on and read some. Trying to pass bldg inspections and get the dishes back in service. It is funny to see the reactions of some to living off what the public offers. I am not even ON the public road! Private power, private water, private...

    No OTA because of FTA

I thought this thread was several years old. but I had to respond to the no water/no power. My power as not been on since 2005 and I have 4 300 gallon storage tanks for water... With 3 solar panels 6 generators and 9 12 volt deep cycle batteries. Oh yes, a Helio LZ being built in the NE corner...

Discussion: Who is Interested in a C-band or Large Dish Purchase? Build and Cost?

OUCH! Cheap? not really me, but cash strapped now. I have LOST 2 C band dishes to the wind and have severe damage to 2 more. I am building wind breaks into my home to try to protect the dishes next time. I have not asked for a new C band dish as I will need to be sure I could protect it. I...

    FINALLY!

Oops that punctuation lesson was typo'd.... "Woman withOUT her man is nothing" is the way it should have read. Depends on where you put what punctuation marks. For me and my wife: "Gerrie; without her, Doug is NOTHING!" And for those who know us - most do not want to be around me, without HER...

    Got problem isolated, please help!

I can not say for LNBFs, but PLL ham gear, if you drop PLL lock, you have to power cycle the PLL to restart it. You MUST NOT be off frequency.

    FINALLY!

Hey Redhead, You are just taking a break! A vacation! You KNOW you can do it. As the punctuation lesson says, "Woman with her man is worth nothing." POP.

Contest: Enter to Win an Amiko mini HD SE from Titanium Satellite - Ends 5/27/2014

The first I owned - and still own - has never been a working set-up. (It was a repo...) Got KU band for 97W a few years ago - after I found this site and Glorystar with Brian. I have tried C-band several times, only to find them blown away. I am getting my building built and hope to have C Band...

    FINALLY!

Have someone arc weld a couple of angles onto the base of the pole and drill or fire some studs into the green concrete. in a day or two it will be strong enough to not rotate. Been there, done that! after it cures a while, you can pour a cap on what you have -- but put in a couple of stubs in...

    Weak STO

I vote to check for TI! I lost TBN on 97W on my best dish - and could not figure why the smallest dish longest run got solid lock. Then I put the (new) wireless land line phone back in the charger base and the signal came back... Took it back off charger and no signal. Disconnected the new phone...

Twelve volts battery to power microHD and portable twelve volts Tv?

I have not done repeatable measurements, HOWEVER (!), my TV cut off, and because of the way I have it set up, my audio went off, but the audio amp power light was still on and the microHD's light was still on. In my panic, I finally checked my battery voltage and I was below 9.1 volts. I...

Twelve volts battery to power microHD and portable twelve volts Tv?

Just to show a ridiculous "ditto" to the ampere hour rating --- my HD, 12 VDC TV and Computer speakers that make up my home system (as well as my HAM station and most everything else) are riding on 450 AH deep cycle battery banks. The rating, is as was pointed out, is the size of the water tank...

    First foray into FTA

Welcome to SatGuys. We live in the Columbia Gorge.... WINDS? Only 47 MPH yesterday. Still below 30MPH today. We are 1700 feet ABOVE the John Day Dam. I have one dish I might let go... Where are you on the coast? And do you come inland often? PM me if you like. POP

    replacement for cable runs?

One major problem with wireless fr FTA is power to LNB. 2nd problem is stable 2 way microwave frequency comms. and interference between the 2 systems. There are some remoting systems that seem to work, but I am not up on that kind of thing.
  23. rv1pop

So which of you is this?

I hope to get a (several ? ) good windbreaks set up and have more dishes - and be able to keep a (4 or 5) C band intact! A 117 MPH gust 7 weeks ago, during an ice storm, took out about 20 miles of PUD's 86 KV lines.... They just got the last line back up. But then I never lost power! Or TV...

Only getting black and white picture

In the US it should be NTSC. What connection between TV and receiver? Coax or Red/White/Yellow or Red/Blue/Green or HDMI. If coax choice is between channel 3 and 4 - wrong one will give no color. Crossing between R/W/Y and R/B/G will give odd results, one combination is no color.
