    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

A quote that in and of itself is full of speculation ("probably via 1394") I agree with HDTVFanAtic.. it seems as if Kryspy is trying to find every bit of drivel on any so-called "article" to try to prove me wrong here on a long dead thread. I am not the stubborn one here, Krys.. I let this...

My Bank of America debit account does not.. Nor does my E-count online account... I it has always been the accurate price for days conversion rate.

    DSR 530 Problem

Conclusion: Reciever needs a rehit. Just call *C or your Broker and have them send a rehit to the reciever. No big deal.
  4. rkrenicki

Does anyone know what the fee is for disconnecting the DSR 530 before the commitment?

I personally would pick up a DSR505, and switch to that.. the SD is perfectly fine on that reciever.

D'Oh -- maybe made the wrong choice!

I personally use a 60E here in Coastal Connecticut, you arent much further south then I, so a 60E would work, and a 75E would do wonders ;)

    New DSR505 code

Oh yea, I noticed the 12 hour clock the other day... I havent actually used my DSR505 in the last two weeks, but I did see that clock... I guess I will have to mess with it a bit.

    reciever not working

Thats a new part of Nagravision 2.. IIRC if the card is out of the stream for 10 days, then it automatically deauthorizes itself. it will require a rehit. Another reason I am glad to have *C!

    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

The slot in the TiVo series 3 is the same beast, different location, also Cable specific. However, each of the providers have a DVR available for their respective services, such as the DVR530 for Starchoice and the 9200 for BEV.

    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

Again, that details a PC compatible DirecTV reciever (either USB or PCI) not CableCard. Show me where in that article it mentions CableCard... Lemme help you, its nowhere ;) I do admit its a great idea, and I hope to see it soon, its still not CableCard. From this article...

I personally have a 500 and 505 on my account, with no issues, and both of those have phone jacks on them :)

    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

This is getting off topic.. The answer to the above question is simply "No". Again Kryspy, your comments are contradictory... I am fully aware of the CableCard system for the PC, I have read quite a bit about it (I work for a Cable company, and therefore keep up on this stuff).. but your...

    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

Kryspy, your comments are contradictory... Your now telling me I missed that you were talking about a DirecTV capture card, where your prior comment was saying that DirecTV unvieled a CableCard at CES? CableCard != PC Tuner Card. Yes, CableCard is basically a CAM, but the interconnecting...

    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

The HTPC Cablecard implementation is a 100% replica of the current television implementation. Meaning, if an HTPC card were to be made for DirecTV, it would not be CableCard complaint in any way, and same vice-versa. The PCI (or perhaps PCIe) cards will be CableCard 1.0 (single stream) and...

For those who are thinking of getting *C

oh, and apples to apples would be svideo to svideo comparison, not svideo to composite (since composite is a significantly inferior way to transmit video data)

For those who are thinking of getting *C

I cant really say much about the 530 specifically, but the SD image quality of Starchice is vastly superior then the SD image quality of BEV.. but whatever happens in that reciever, I have no idea. I can only base this on my experiences with the BEV 6000 and 3000, and the DSR205, 315, 500, and...

    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

But there is the underlying problem of the tuner.. the NTSC/ATSC tuner in the television simply cannot tune satellite signals. You can have any cam in the world, it wouldnt matter, but the parts conecting the antenna to the decoder need to work with both. Unless they are going to start making...

For those who are thinking of getting *C

Its possible that the process of compressing to the hard drive is giving visual artifacts. IIRC, most DVRs give you the option of selecting a recording quality, I would think that the DSR530 would as well. You may want to see if there is a LiveTV Quality function somewhere in the menu...

    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

Where do you see this? I havent heard anything like this. Its not technically possible to work in a CableCard slot, as the tuner just cant physically do what it needs to (voltage switching, tone inject, or even the right band to tune to) Perhaps its a "CableCard"-Like device, but it would...

    *Choice signal strength

you may have to type the 6-0-5 slowly.. I had that issue with my receivers.. typing it too fast and missing the menus.

For those who are thinking of getting *C

Most of those channels are offair channels, so you have to deal with the reception, and encoding of analog channels. You should look at network channels, such as Space, TMN, TechTV etc.. I personally have a DSR505, and I have seen BEV and Dish signals.. I truely believe that the SD image...

    CableCARD and Satellite Sercive

Its not really possible, since CableCard (as the name denotes) is designed for Cable service.. That, and the tuners in the televisions are not specifically designed to do what you want. they have no voltage selection, they tune the 50-860mhz band instead of the L-band (900-2150mhz) While it...

    SC 75E Dish broken

If you were to use two dishes, then you would need a "multiswitch" or a 22khz switch. if you pick up two 30" dishes, and two STANDARD (L.O. 10750) LNBs (preferably dual outputs) Then connect either both outputs of both dishes to the 4 inputs of the multiswitch, or connect each dish to each...

    SC 75E Dish broken

You can always use two 30cm dishes and a multiswitch, but thats a bit more complex then a normal 75E what exactly is damaged with your dish?

    *Choice..losing channels

Do you have an HD reciever? (DSR5xx or DSR4xx+HDD200) Do you loose your HD channels at all? The CBCs are all on F1. Do you have any kind of multiswitch or just directly connected to the dish?
