Well I don't and it hacks me off more than a little bit. Of course what you say is true. They do a lot more than my first desktop machine. My wife takes it to the office to show off her latest nature snaps. And Dish Anywhere works pretty well. And I can manage my investments in real time during...

Buddy, count me out of the folks who agree with that idea. Rusty scissors can be used to carve a Christmas turkey if you recognize their limitations. What they are are cheap attempts to double dip from the billfold of early adopters. I've been their before and now I find I am again.

    opinions of Toshiba Thrive

The biggest take away from owning the Thrive is that Android 3.2 isn't nearly "ready for prime time" and the Thrive's processor is painfully slow compared with a Dell laptop. And Windows 7 is worth what it costs, and Android 3.2 is worth what it costs. Android on my first two smart phones...

AT&T Wages Quiet War on Grandfathered Unlimited Users

Wow. Your weekend must be about as exciting as mine. Do you troll all the forums? I just got started on this form a few weeks back when I got my tablet. Otherwise I'm just a Dish and Bar & Grill lurker.

AT&T Wages Quiet War on Grandfathered Unlimited Users

Two points here. First, a lot of European communication companies are either government controlled monopolies or directly government subsidized or owned. And we all know how well the European economic model is doing. So I'm not considering their pricing in a search to find a fair price...

AT&T Wages Quiet War on Grandfathered Unlimited Users

Sorry to take so long responding. I had to email Verizon to get the link. This link: Network Optimization Third paragraph, towards the end. "The highest data users, the top 5% with 3G devices on unlimited data plans, may experience managed data speeds when connected to a congested 3G cell...

AT&T Wages Quiet War on Grandfathered Unlimited Users

I just checked Verizon's FAQ/about this and they do the same IF you are on a busy cell tower. Implying that if your the only hog in that area they have no problem how much data you suck up and unless you are grandfathered into an unlimited plan you can buy all the data you want. Sent from my...

AT&T Wages Quiet War on Grandfathered Unlimited Users

That is the most business explanation. If they have the bandwidth they won't mess with a paying customer. But when people start complaining of dropped calls they will dump one hog in favor of dozens of POed customers every time. Sent from my Toshiba Thrive using SatelliteGuys

AT&T Wages Quiet War on Grandfathered Unlimited Users

I've only experimented with tethering just to see if i could. But now that I am LTE I'm thinking I might use it on weekends in L.A. because it's faster than the Hotel Wifi(which sometimes doesn't work at all). The question is how can someone be caught tethering?

Your both right. No matter how you explain it there was pent up demand that caused a temporary spike in Verizon sales of iPhone. And on who is making the most money: The "non-iPhone" manufacturers together are selling more smart phones than Apple with RIM is a sad, distant third. Google has a...

OK further research on .mts (AVCHD) and android devices. Turns out Windows Live Movie Maker, included with Windows 7, can read .mts files and if you elect to output the file in their "high resolution display" mode you have a 1920X1080 24000kbps .wmv that works on (at least) a 10" android 3.2...

OK, did some research and mts is a AVCHD format and used by a lot of HD camcorders and androids can't handle it as of yet. I had to find a converter for mts to mpeg4 that works fine. I will give a link to anyone who PMs me but won't post it because I don't want to suggest it is better than...

I hope that is a flluke because of Verizon getting into the iPhone market late so there was pent up demand that should ebb.

OK, got my Thrive last night. After playing with it for a couple of hours I don't have a lot to report but one startling thing: First power up it asks to connect to a Gmail account. I used the one I got with my first Droid. To my amazement Google synced the tablet to my current droid phone. All...

One more thing. Does Dish Pointer include actually pointing the right direction? If so you need a compass chip in the tablet too. Too bad the reception is spotty because a Droid or Thunderstorm like I have have excellent compasses. The Thunderstorm has a level sensor but I have no idea whether...
