    Locals on other Providers

I switched to D*, and the box integrates the locals the same as Voom. I get the sub-channels that you mention in your post, and get them integrated into the guide. One difference is that the Voom STB supplied power to the OTA antenna, but the D* box does not. You have to get a stand-alone...

I was hoping VOOM was different...but they aint!!

Do the same thing with that hole under your nose, and everyone will be better off.

    value electronics

I called VE today also. Of course I mentioned being a member of satelliteguys.us. I bought the HR10-250 and the H10. Also got two D10 (standard) receivers as backups. Includes triple LNB with new dish and free installation and shipping. D* setup currently offers 2 deals. Subscribe to the...

Billed for my Voom Install Today

Welcome aboard, ksload. I see that you are new to Voom, but not to DBS since you are transitioning from E*.

    Where are the new Channels?

There were a lot of new channels added in March. What are you looking for? Yes, it is April 1st. It appears that the agreement to broadcast through the end of March has been extended, since Voom is still transmitting. Regarding 50 HD channels, etc, etc---I have no clue.

    My PQ Rant

I've had Voom for 15 months, watching on a 43" Pioneer plasma TV. I use the DVI / HDMI cable out from Voom and into the Pioneer receiver unit. At one time or another, I have seen every 'wart' being talked about in this thread. Over the past 15 months, the picture quality has fluctuated...

My advice is to start drinking heavily..... Bluto to Pflounder in Animal House.

Shutdown? Just got deducted Next Month...

It means that you have paid for a month of programming in advance. I don't think the screen ever had an announcement about the end of March. That announcement was on the Voom website for a couple of days, but did not make it into the Voom menu announcements.

Have WealthHD made it into your favorites?

I voted no because I don't maintain any list of favorites. I'm happy to have more HD, and I'd like to have more time to evaluate the channel. Right now, I'd have to say that this ranks about where I would rank the AUCTION channel. I saw the show about the 29 million dollar jet for sale, and...

New SD and WealthTV VVV Only Channels:

Interesting perspective dlm10541. The forum has 19,000 members according to latest figures. At last count, it was rumored that Voom had over 40K subscribers, so a major portion of existing subs appear to NOT frequent this forum. Voom is using the front page of the program guide to make...

New SD and WealthTV VVV Only Channels:

I watched it a little bit this morning. They had a show on about a corporate jet that was for sale. Top of the line everything in that baby. Asking price was 29 million. I'm not sure who Wealth HD is actually aimed at, but a 29 million dollar jet aircraft is way out of my reach. However, I...

New SD and WealthTV VVV Only Channels:

I'd like to see them in the basic package, at least to begin with. If all subscribers were able to see the channels now, and Voom announced that they would move to VVV or to a plus pak of some sort, then everybody will have had the chance to watch them and evaluate whether or not they would pay...

    Another dissatisfied Customer

Come on. You can't possibly be serious about somebody researching a provider, finding this forum, and being unable to dig up the negatives associated with Voom. There are thousands of posts that detail trouble with installers and with customer service. If we are talking about being mature...

    Love Voom but

Most people who post in this forum have subscribed to Voom because of the HD. SD picture quality is not a primary concern for me. If you think E* has better SD pq than V*, that's OK. I prefer to watch HD.

IMO, this thread helps nobody, and contains no information of any value. I'd like to suggest closing it.

    question for voom subs

Some of the posters are pretty passionate about a wide variety of subjects, but 'hating' a service provider is a little over-the-top. I'm pretty sure that most people don't actually hate the company, but it is easy to use that term in this forum. No matter what subject you pick, some will...

Do you have a new provider lined up if Voom goes dark on 4/1/05??

Right now, I can't decide what I would do. I'm leaning toward D*, but also thinking about cable. Comcast in Denver offers an HD DVR that you can lease, and some other attractive features. You know what holds me back from cable? I like being a satelliteguy and can't bear the thought of...

    Voom Ad need Ideas

Oh boy. The possibilities here are endless. However, my advice would be to save your money and let Voom do their own advertising. You'll keep your money and avoid getting sued. With that out of the way, you could take a close-up of your posterior and caption it with "Kiss THIS if you don't...

Box owners... who's left and what can we do?

MP I know this is a hot one for you, and it is understandable. I see your points. I sincerely hope that we continue to get the signal for a long time to come, and the longer the better. I'd like to see you get past the break even point too.

i dont know if i should laugh or laugh my butt off... You'll have to make up your own mind on the above statement. I think we might have a difficult time finding more than 2 people who give a rip what you do.

Box owners... who's left and what can we do?

I own my box also. Paid $799 in January 2004. Voom gave me a $300 credit toward programming, and I had free VaVaVoom from January to April. This STB is the original box, and was never swapped out. It is still working and I never really had any problems with it. I'm well over 3,000 hours...

What does my current bill indicate?

My bill is due pretty soon, but I've never been on autopay. They still send a paper statement and I pay by check. I haven't been able to get to the account summary because of that shutdown message on www.voom.com, and www.voomllc.com doesn't link to anything yet. The statement should arrive...

Harmonic Encoder Improvements? (Feedback Need it)

You will see the terms "soft reboot" and "hard reboot". A hard reboot is when you turn the STB off and unplug it--then plug it back in and turn it on. The soft reboot consists of pressing and holding down the on/off button for 5 to 10 seconds and then releasing it. The on/off button is on the...
