Good choice in antennas. :up That's the one I have in my attic and it works great.

One thing to note is that the two boxes using Silicon tuners (Sansonic and Lasonic) are at the top of the list as far as picture quality goes. The only negative is that the guide sucks on both. Hopefully the Echostar box will be better in that aspect.

There is no such thing as an "analog" or "digital" OTA antenna. Any OTA antenna is capable of receiving both the NTSC analog signals and the ATSC digital signals. If they cannot put up an outdoor or attic antenna, you might want to look into getting them an amplified indoor antenna like this...

I think he meant the little hand held TVs that don't have any input jacks on them, just an antenna. Those things are destined for the trash can unfortunately.

Energy Star certification isn't required for CECB program certification, so it's also possible that Echostar just didn't submit one for testing.

It's not out yet, so they probably couldn't get any to test.

Better yet, get the Sansonic FT300A which is very similar to the TR-40 in hardware.

I know a few of the models have tuners that are capable of receiving the QAM signals, but I doubt that they have QAM decoders in them.

Correct. Most set top boxes for OTA and cable have an extra tuner that collects the PSIP data. So a "dual tuner" box actually has 3 tuners and a "quad tuner" model actually has 5.

The TR-50 won't be coupon eligible since it is a DVR. I'm waiting for the TR-40 or Sansonic boxes since they use new solid state tuners made by my company rather than the old 1950's style slow mechanical ones that the rest have.
