is a clearstream 5 worth the investment if you are in a basement?

Thinking about buying a clearstream 5 but I'm thinking it might be overkill? A price of 150 bucks seems a bit steep for something that may not work? Right now I am using a radioshack amplified antenna ... this thingy is what we have...

Would a Grey Hoverman build be worth building?

Thanks. I'll probably just leave it as is... just frustrating on days like today when it's been raining all day. I haven't tried moving it too much because we usually watch 8 and 17 and they come in sorta ok usually when weather cooperates. On 6 the signal is strong even when weather is...

Would a Grey Hoverman build be worth building?

At the moment I'm in a basement apartment. Our zip is 65203 Antennaweb says we should be able to get KMIZ-DT 17 ABC KOMU-DT 8 NBC KMOS-DT 6 PBS KQFX-LD 22 FOX KNLJ-DT 20 REL TVfool says we should be able to get 8 komu 17 abc 20 (25) knlj 15 (6) kmos 12 (13.1) cbs 28 klmc-lp Right now we...

    Otard for OTA?

Is there a federal law like OTARD for dish that works for OTA antennas? My mother in law's cable got cut because she can't afford it anymore and lives in an apt. complex. I want to be able to find the law, if it exists that I can print out and hand to the landlord because I think she's going...

    Repair OTA antenna

is there a way to fix old antennas that have prongs that are loose enough that birds keep moving them when they land on them.. I was thinking maybe electric tape or some sort of reinforcing bar but don't know if that'll screw with signal and create interference.

    Longview, TX antenna setup examples

I know this post has absolutely nothing to do with what you are asking about, but since it's about Texas TV Stations, it might be more close than I think... If you go FTA in addition to OTA, Fox 64, Beaumont can be found on AMC4, at 101 Degrees West. AMC 4 at 101.0°W - LyngSat SatelliteGuys.US...

    Real and Virtual Channel Numbers

Entering the numbers for real location causes my equipment to automatically change to the virtual numbers. I think atsc tuners have a built in thingy to auto slide over to there. This gives me hope as prior to fiddling around with manual entry, I thought that once I blind scanned it wiped all...

TV Fool and antennaweb are ok... but why not go directly to the source....

Yes... Know what you mean. My channel 50 out of KC keeps coming and going sporadically. I think this weekend or next weekend I'm going to try getting a 40-50 foot pipe (probably 10 footers pieced together) and seeing if those extra few feet will help.

    Anyone got a CM7777, CM 4228 or Rotor 4-Sale

Not sure about the 7777... BUT... Ace Hardware carries 3041 DSB, which is, I think one step below the 7777. Also, Wal-Mart sells a Rotor, Phillips I think. It's probably made from cheap junk, but then again, some of of the most expensive pieces of fta equipment I've picked up I found to be...

TV Fool and antennaweb are ok... but why not go directly to the source....

I'm not sure about the word format... I just copied the stuff as text and imported in to excel with the option to delimit by line size and spaces. I think just line size would have worked though since I noticed that it broke up some of the channel numbers so 17 might look like |1|7|other info...

Choices,Choices what converter box to buy

I was afraid of loosing channels with my tv a while back... but then I read on another forum somewhere that you can manually add new channels to most atsc receivers simply by pressing the numbers, i.e. one, one, dash button, one, if you want 11-1, etc. That seems to work, but you have to fiddle...

    Ordered DTV pal (South Florida)

wonder what would happen if you ask them to just add locals and nothing else? Doubt it's possible, but might be fun to ask just for the heck of it to see what they say.

Need to improve signal strenght when splitting signal

I don't think you want to replace the 7777 since it's supposed to be about the best preamp out there. You might put on a distribution amp further down the line and try it out... but honestly, I don't know if it'll give you the gain you are wanting... mainly because distribution amps amplify...

Need to improve signal strenght when splitting signal

I think you can use an amp and preamp, but doing so may cause you to blow the signal up too strong. Would really be best to get that sucker outside on a pole if you could. Wouldn't even need to really be a long pole. I think minimal sized pole on the ground or in a bucket of concrete on the...

Will this be the end of TV Dxing?

Digital will make DX funner because it means you either have 100% of a picture or nothing... snow is tolerable, but with digital you don't have it... does make it more of a challenge though since you almost just have to aim and cross your fingers waiting for the scan... Now, reviewing the two...

    Help me avoid cable, please!

Also, I know it's not what you are asking about... but you really might like to check out getting an Free-to-Air system up and running. Lots of great alternative tv options on there - many of which are educational.

    WAF is up!

I think I got the wife approval factor up enough that she's gonna let me get an antenna rotor for an antenna - I am gonna start a new tv dx hobby I think... love fta - now time to start ota explorations. This morning was fantastic!

wow. TV Fool estimates the antenna needs to be about 68 feet tall to get channel 50... and around 80 feet for some of the channels even further out than that... Right now the antennas mounted to the top of our chimney... it's a one and a half story house, so that brings it up to probably...

    This morning was fantastic!

It happened again yesterday and this morning, right at sunrise. Seems that there's just enough tropospheric bounce at that time in the morning... I'm going to try to see if it happens again tomorrow, and if so, try scanning them in with the converter box that has a meter so that I can try some...

    This morning was fantastic!

This morning I was fooling around with my digital tv since I'd read in tvfool that there were more analog channels out there... so I do some scans this morning and some manual edits to channel list... what do you know, the local kansas city stations came in... both analog and digital!!! They...

I Can't Get The OTA Antenna to Work

I know this is seriously sounding like an insult, but it's not meant to be... look around at other houses in your area and see which direction their antennas are aimed. It might be that you aren't aiming the right direction or something... if your tv has a signal meter on it, get someone to...
