    Will this impact Satellite TV

The problem is, those 15-17 channels will probably cost you the same to watch as AT60 does.. Lets figure $1.49/channel (which is pretty low, but lets use it as an example) 17 channels would be $25.25.. How much is AT60? $26.99 or something like that? Skyangel gets away with it because...

But the cable industry is already regulated up the wazzoo... FCC mandates that calls be answered within xx seconds (something like 60 seconds), also mandates that installs must cost less then $xx (do you really think that it really costs $17 to install cable to your house?) or that installs...

    Will this impact Satellite TV

The problem with that is, different channels cost different amounts to the carrier.. some channels are as little as $.25/sub.. most are more, some are much much more.. some are only sold to us in packs, like the Discoverys, or ESPNs.. what if someone wanted Discovery Kids, but not Discovery...

    Will this impact Satellite TV

C-band is a different beast... You are just using the signal that is already there, which is destined for cable and satellite providers. You arent their bread-and-butter cash flow, just some icing on the cake... Cable is very different.. a good portion of the price is for the...

I think that its a bad idea all around.. And I doubt that this would apply to DBS services too.. at least at first.. go figure.

    43V shock on satellite install

A lifted neutral or miswired outlet (reversed hot and neutral) at the device at the other end of that wire. I find this problem alot with cable tv stuff and occasionaly with a computer. I try to ground every device I can.. in my current house I have all of my diplexers and splitters...

oh, that isnt the same as mine.. pretty close, but not exactly the same.. mine goes straight into the neck of the feedhorn, yours goes to the side a bit.. I am not surprised about the adapter, I have heard of them, but the waveguide and elements are just not made for that frequency band...

The center dish in that first picture, the 2.4 with the yellow line around the edge.... the feedhorn mount looks the same as mine.. with a pole straight into the throat of the lnb.. does this work ok for Ku? or is that the C dish? I have visions of using the Chaparal quad c/ku feedhorn...

RG6 installed next to electric wire?

I also agree that it wouldnt cut out signal completely.. sure, it can interfere and is not ideal, but not to the point that you wont get ANYTHING thru the wire... I will conceed that it should be further away, however for practicalitys sake, I believe I can say its not causing this problem...

    Newbies Beware!!!!

I for one think that there should be a little more screening in having a "Gold Sponsor" here.. sure, they pay us for advertising, but that in and of itself shouldnt mean we endorse them.. For those without the luxury of a local dealer, it would be nice if we could truly stand behind our...

    Newbies Beware!!!!

I dont know about all this.. FTADirect has always been overly sketchy in my opinion, and personally, I would never buy from them because of this. Stick with Sadoun, I have bought from them a few times, and I am more then happy with their support :) That and SGA has had alot of good reviews...

    13V, 18V, 22KHz, and all that

It sounds more like the dish needs to be peaked.. you can try moving them around, but its not really going to make much of a difference.

That tower is quite short.. I would guess 35 feet or so.. it barely goes over the roofline. If it was bolted to a cement slab, or even built into a cement base, there would be no need for guy lines as its simply too short.

    13V, 18V, 22KHz, and all that

13/18v is used to select polarity on an LNB.. 13v is for vertical or right hand circular, and 18 for horizontal or left hand circular a 22khz tone is used to select which LNB is currently active. On DirecTV, the 101 position is 22khz off, and 110/119 is 22khz on. Now, DirecTV shouldnt...

    Rg Cable Types

No, RG11 is not cost effective.. you would use RG6 all over the house. RG 59, 6, and 11 are really the only ones that are used in television networks.. beyond that there is 250 and 500 hardline, but those are really just used for cable trunk and feeder.

    Rg Cable Types

dont let the 5 db difference between RG6 and RG11 fool you, 3db of signal is a large difference.. every 3db gain is twice the signal.. so 5db is nearly 4 times the signal getting to the ird..
  19. rkrenicki

    Rg Cable Types

those are really the only ones you should worry about.. RG 59 is fine for low frequency or short runs, like from an IRD to a TV, or to your VCR.. no problems at all.. RG6 is good for just about anything under 300 feet.. dish to ird, or ird to tv, whatever. RG11 is for very long runs...

    Possible - LNB-signal to/over LAN?

I have never seen such a product, but it would sell like hotcakes, me thinks. The closest thing would be the Slingbox, which connects to a recevier, and streams the video over a network, so you could have the dish, reciever, and slingbox in one location, while watching it from a remote...

No, but its an awesome bonus.. unfortunaetly, this house does not face directly south like the last place.. but its pretty close.. The entire 2nd floor is slightly smaller then the first, so I have this roof ledge all the way around.
