    6412 Demand?

I strolled into the local Mediacom office to get a second 6412 for my home and was told they only allow one 6412 per household. Wahh? I asked why and the lady said it was because of demand--that a lot of companies use them, and that there's a waiting list for them, and that they're really...

    Not Mediacom yet, but....

Yep, it records what you see, so if the channel's HD, the recording is too. Beware, HD programs take up a LOT of space on the DVR's hard drive. I have the 6412 and no, it does not have an off-air ATSC tuner. You'll have to add a separate tuner for the OTA stuff.

Switching from Dish Network to Mediacom

Mediacom's DVR does not use a phone line. It's all hit through the coax. The thing does have some bugs, and sometimes when you have to reset, all of your recorded content on the hard drive dissapears. That's happened twice. The first time the stuff mysteriously came back after a couple resets...

Switching from Dish Network to Mediacom

Yea, you can DVR HD shows. There was no upfront cost. There is a 9-dollars-and-change monthly fee for the dvr service. It's the Motorola 6412 dual-tuner thing. Pretty nice. You can record two shows while watching a recording of another. I only wish the hard drive was larger than 120 gig. Maybe...

Switching from Dish Network to Mediacom

We switched to Mediacom in January when the storm of Voom rumors was reaching a peak and Mediacom came along with the same deal you describe. I’m in LeSueur, MN and there are no other options for TV other than Sat or OTA. Ya, we went with the HD-DVR option and HD tier. The whole thing adds...

    Mediacom's Increased Speed Announcement

Damn! Just ran a speed test and it's coming out around 4.5mbps. It's not 5mbps as promised, but it's pretty frickin' fast! Anybody else notice/test the change?

    Any Mediacom Customers?

Skidog, I'm in LeSueur, Minnesota (pop 4300) and their Mediacom stuff isn't too bad. Dual-tuner HD-DVR with about 10 HD channels. The digital channels look great. The lower-tier analog channels go from so-so to puke. We bundled it with their internet and got a deal with starz/starz-on-demand for...
