    5G interference questions

Mesh screens around dishes can be very difficult to build right and in many cases will not address the problem. The commercial one's I've seen around Intelsat sites for their critical monitoring dishes were made of fine copper mesh and I had one 11m C-band dish project that required a huge...

FREE 14ft Prodelin C-band dish, mount, actuator, Seavy feed and LNB in So Cal

A friend has a 14ft Prodelin fiberglass dish with mount, actuator, Seavy feed and LNB. The dish is located in Glendale, CA and is on a pole up against a house. There is easy access from the roof to dismantle. This dish was in commercial service at his house receiving various programs then...

    C-band extended

I have had a good experience with Swedish Microwave which should be easy to purchase in EU. Here is a link to their C-band LNBs. https://smw.se/product/single-band-pll-lnb-c-band/

    C-band extended

I don't think its possible unless you have some specific microwave test equipment, knowledge and skills to do the mod. It would require changing the LO frequency and retuning the front end filter. It would certainly cost more in labor than a new extended LNB would cost.

    Cband has become more frustrating....

The commercial C-band users are also having a difficult time with 5G interference and since its a multi tiered rollout over time you had to buy a specific filter or filtered LNB at the start of this mess then when the next tier is on air throw away your new filter or LNB and buy another and so...

    Big dish base

Putting a bend a few inches long in the bottom ends would have been fine.

    Big dish base

The size, shape and amount of concrete in the base will depend on your soil compaction in addition to the dish wind load and that's usually calculated by a professional engineer. If you don't know or can't afford to have soil compaction tested, and its expensive, I would calculate like the base...

    101w Wobbling?

Yes they go in a figure 8 pattern that gets larger and larger then about every 2 weeks they perform maneuvers to put it back in center of box. If fuel is getting low the pattern may get larger as the spacecraft owner tries to extend its life and conserve fuel. Small dishes up to a few meters are...

    101w Wobbling?

You can always call the satellite provider and ask if there are any problems with the spacecraft that would cause the symptoms you are seeing. I've called Intelsat in the past and it turned out there were problems with the satellite. Its best to call and say something like "this is Bob from XYZ...

Extended upper C Band in the US?

I think due to international agreements that part of the band cannot be used in the US. You can receive a foreign satellite here but I don't think you can uplink within the US to downlink for US consumption. You could probably get a waiver to uplink from the US to downlink in a foreign country.

    Emergency Temporary C band Dish

Its a "flyaway" that you can take on an airplane. They pack in containers designed for airplane travel or shipment via Fed-X, etc.

    Emergency Temporary C band Dish

No problem. A little Bondo on the old dish and bend the wave guide back into shape, good to go! Never mind you light up three satellites at once....

SOLVED! The 5G Challenge and solutions

I've dealt with a lot of C-band interference problems and out of band signals from marine radar and aircraft altimeter radar will saturate the amplifiers in an LNB or LNA eating up all the available output power and gain causing received signals to be pushed way down in level and the noise floor...

    Coax Comparison

The PPC connectors are good and at one time were the only accepted connector for use by DirecTV. But I suspect someone was paid off for them to reach that status. My favorite F connectors are T&B Snap-N-Seal (now Belden?) SNS1P6U. These fit crappy RG6 through quad shield with just one connector...

    Coax Comparison

As mentioned, RG-6 is fine for your 100ft run and there is really no benefit going to RG-11 in your case. On huge building distribution systems its another story and you can actually starve the receiver at some point and it will not decode. This usually happens when you get below about -65dBm...

Gale Winds - Sat ASC1 mover off by 16 ticks

I've had a problem with some commercial dishes where they would randomly loose their cal buy some number of clicks. I found the long lines from the hall effect sensors in the actuator arms were subject to RF or EMI interference which would cause the controller to bump up a few clicks even though...

    First C-band Dish Install Strategy

I'll add a little bit to this big C-band dish install as a challenge to your home C-band install. This job showing a single 9m dish was actually to install three 9m class C-band antennas on temporary mounts with associated electronics like antenna controller, high power TWT amplifiers, wave...

    First C-band Dish Install Strategy

I agree the dish will fall over and it will be nearly impossible to use wood unless you make a big mount out of something like old railroad ties and sandwich them between some thick plywood. Even then it will have to be large to avoid tipping and you will need a lot of weight on it. For...

    no signal on 78W Venesat/Bolivar?

Sounds like they screwed up some calculations and uplinked bad station keeping data that sent the satellite for a loop.

Installing a 10 foot cband dish into side of a building

Backyard is much easier and virtually no risk. Dig a hole and pour the recommended amount of concrete for your soil conditions. The dish mfr should specify the amount of concrete and minimum height of the pipe in the instruction manual. Make the pipe super plumb and assemble the dish after the...

Installing a 10 foot cband dish into side of a building

I've been involved in similar installs to what the OP is needing and would agree with others on going all the way through the wall with long bolts to a backing plate. I would also recommend using at least 3 if not 4 clamps on a pipe that long and welding a foot on the bottom of the pipe so you...
