1080p Reception

The Dark Knight HD PPV: 6,199,995,600 bytes, 2h32m03s equals 5.44Mbps. Like I was saying, Dish HD PPVs currently are about 1/3rd the bitrate of their 1080p VOD.

Actually 1080P/24 and 1080P/30 ARE in the ATSC specs. Experimental broadcasts OTA have been done. All ATSC equipped sets INCLUDING Dish receivers can receive them. That does not say that all such tuners will send them on to the display in that mode. Several networks and cable channels have discussed actually using them.

Could you give a source for these test that you are referring to?

I would have to go back and search for when they were done, but at least one test was done in NY very early on by WCBS, and I did watch it. I do remember that articles about the tests showed that many of the early ATSC receivers had trouble with it, and these results were what lead most to not use it later.

However Wikipedia states that some NBC stations actually send out 1080P/24 with metadata on displaying it as 1080i (no citation is listed). 1080P Now Working

I just came home and discovered 618 on my 722. Did the HDMI test and it now properly shows 1080P/24 (as well as all others) as supported. Started download of The Beast.
