A couple months ago i had my system set up by a sat company. Installer was not very knowledgeable about configurations of the dishes. He set me up with 1 dish pointing to 119/110(locals) and one to 61.5. In order to see 61.5 he had to put it in the front of the house. Not ideal. Now I read about the dish 1000 and figure I might be able to move it further away from the front and not use 2 dishes. Am I thinking correctly? Can I use the existing lnbf? Is it as easy as reconnecting them to the 1000? If so where do I get a 1000 dish?

I have 1 -811 1 -311 1-625 dpp44 switch

Again, as we tell all new posters, you need to give us your geographical location.

The Dish1000 will not work everywhere, and in some places, because the look angle is very low, you may not have a clear line of sight.

The D1000 picks up 110, 119, & 129. You would still need another to access 61.5.

He only needs the 61.5 if that is where his SD locals are.

still need orig. poster location,

newbie mistake

I am in 40241 zip code. Louisville ky. I believe my locals are on 119 or 110. I thought 61.5 HD was mirrored on 129. If that is the case I could just use 129 in place of 61.5

A dish 1000 will work in Louisville. Everything that was on 61.5 when the two dishes were installed have been added to 129.

I also use a Dish 1000 but I'm not happy about the signal level off 129. They installed a DPP44 to try to fix my dropouts.

any idea if I can use my current lnbfs can be hooked to a 1000 to save some money? I already have the dpp44 switch. Did the switch help your signal?

So far no problems... Lets see when the next rain storm comes through.

I'll leave the equipment question for those in the know.

Yes you will need another dish to get 129, Rockford locals are on 121 and most HD is on 129. Eventually the superdish will be going away and more locals will be added to 129 that may be awhile though....... If the installer is good he may use a dish 500 and point it at 129 and a dpp 44 switch to integrate it all.....

I am just outside Seattle. I currently have a 500 with a legacy quad cascaded via sw21's to a 300 in order to get 148. I would love to consolodate down to a single dish. Is the 1000 a viable option? BTW, I have a 721 and a 921, I am replacing the 921 with a 622.

To the OP: There s NO technical reason why the existing 61.5 dish could not be remounted and repointed to pick up 129. Swapout to Dish 1000 is only needed if you care more about the number of dish pans than the cost.

So, if you have line of sight to 129 from your preferred mounting location, go for it.

Note that you should do a temporary hookup of the 129 dish directly to a receiver to aim it, THEN put the wires back the way they were and re-run Check Switch.

jgags6, you will have multiple options for picking up HD.

You presently have a SD121 to get 110/119/121.

You could add a D1000 which would get 110/119/129, then use either the SD or D1000 for your 110 & 119 locations.

You could add a D300 or D500 pointing at 129 to just get it.

You could add a D300 or D500 pointing at 61.5 to pick up HD from that satellite.

Your strongest signal for HD from Rockport is going to be from the 61.5 location. You should be able to get signal strengths in the 95 range from there.

If I were you, I would be tempted to use a simple 18" D300 pointing at 61.5. Better signal strengths & smaller dish array than a SD121 / D1000 combo.
