2 Way splitter behind DVR

Is it possible to put a 2 way splitter behind a DirectTV R15? Im moving into an apartment and it just doesnt seem necessary for them to run 2 wires behind every box. I have 3 of them. Thanx

you need 2 lines form the dish/multiswitch to the receiver

Cheaper manufacturing costs (it would have to have some kinda stacking system, which btw, one could setup on their own, if one _really_ wanted a one-wire solution, and cost was not an issue).

Sadly for us, business is about making money (or saving it), not logic.

Ah yeah cost is an issue. That sucks. i heard comcast came out with a duel tuner box that only needs one cable thats sucks for the guy who spent good money on 3 drv boxes less then 6 months ago

Also, requiring the installation of two lines would provide some after-initial-install income for installers from those (non-DIY type) customers who upgrade to a DVR and would have to pay for another coax run from the dish, whereas, a single wire solution would eliminate the need for that.

Directv uses two different voltages to power the lnb. If the receiver sends 13 volts, then the LNB sends odd-tsps. channels. If 18volds then even tsps. That way you can record a 13 volt channel and an 18 volt channel at the same time.
