yep $5000 can get you top notch home gear, and total light control is VERY easy and inexpensive, so really not a big issue. My den/HT has one patio french door/window and 3 std windows (one direct behind the seating area) and I have NO issues controlling light and achieving a STUNNING picture even during the height of the day..

Depends on what you consider top notch. I could EASILY spend 15,000 on a decent projector/screen combo.

It's all relative to what is good for you.

For your home use 35' x 20' home theater, with decent light control. You would not need to spend over $5000. Sure you CAN, but then that is why many people are deemed having more money than brains. For a typical DEN H/T could be even less. ALL while achieving the same stunning quality images as items 2x, 3x, or more and you could NEVER tell the difference unless told. Some people just want to bitch about high prices while some want to gloat about them. Some people equate $$$$$ as greatness, smart buyers don't.
