Can you combine 110 or 119 with 61.5 with a dp21 and then go into the dp34 switch where 121 is already hooked up to avoid havig to pay for a dpp44 switch to look at 4 birds

no
but you can put a DP21 on one of the DP34 outputs...but whatever receiver the DP21 is on is the only one to see the 61.5

110, 119, 121 into DP34
one output to DP21

one receiver sees 110, 119, 121, 61.5
the rest see only 110, 119, 121

Considering that if you have the 121 for your locals and you want the 61.5 for the V* channels, the you would run the 119, 110, 121 into the DP34 and then the 61.5 and 1 output of the DP 34 into the DP21 and send that to the HD receiver(unless you have a 921 or 942, then you need 2 DP21s). You CANNOT run 2 sat signals into a DP34's input because the DP34 line locks the input for only 1 sat location.

Never tried this, but does anyone know if the dp34 +dp21 will work on a 301?
In order to get four sats.
I have done this several times on 311's and 811's.
But what about the 301?

If I use two dp34s to combine the signals from a Superdish and a 61.5 dish, do I use the receiver output jack of first dp34 or the one intended for cascading? That is - the bottom jacks or the right jacks?

The best way to do this is using a 44 switch make sure 105 or 121 is on the number 4 input.

The outputs on the right are for trunking, a way to add more tuner outputs, as shown in the diagram on the DP34. Cascading is a different way to combine switches to add an additional satellite input but no additional outputs.

Posts 2 & 3 describe how to do a cascade. With a DP Dual on the 61.5 dish and 2 DP21s (not a second DP34) you can add 61.5 to 2 tuners. If you have more than 2 tuners it starts getting messier and you should just replace the DP34 with a DPP44 as Tate said.

I already have the two DP34s, that's why I'm looking for how to cascade them. I hooked up line 1 output (to receiver) of my first DP34 (from a Superdish) to the dish 1 input on a second DP34. The dish 2 input on the second DP34 is from one jack off a DP dual LNB retrofitted on a Voom dish. The line 1 output of the second DP34 goes to tuner 1 of my 942.

I ran a check switch on my 942, and the results shown were:
Sat 1
port 1 - X X N.C.
port 2 - 119 OK Dual
port 3 - X X N.C.

Sat 2 is all green (as expected since I didn't disturb this line).

Any ideas on where I went wrong?

You CANNOT connect a Switch into a Switch like that! When you run a switch into a Dp34 like you have, the DP34 LINE LOCKS the line for 1 sat signal. You will have to use a DP34 and a DP21 to get 4 locations. You CANNOT do it that way you are trying. It doesn't work that way. You ahve to take the receiver line from the bottom of the DP34, and run that into the DP21 along with the 61.5's DISHPRO LNB into the DP21. Then run the DP21 to the receiver.

A DP44 works great for this, but I got mine "free" because of "must carry" locals. :)

It does.. i've got a 34 and 21 on mine with 119/110/105/61.5

As hokiecb says, it does work.
Here's a diagram of my setup. Although under normal circumstances, the 301 only sees 3 birds, during my install process, I swapped my 301 and 811, just to verify consistent behavior.
