Just upgraded to the Genie 2, enjoying 4k content for the first time. Yesterday I noticed on all the 4k dedicated channels 104 thru 108, regardless of content a thin, bright white line would appear on the far right side of the screen. It doesn't appear on any other channels or when I stream 4k content via another source. My television is a Sony X90J and when tuned to these dedicated Directv 4k channels you cannot adjust the television display settings for overscan, etc.

Curious if anybody else on the forum with 4k has noticed these white lines or had to deal with this issue?

Thanks for the replies - for anybody researching this issue in the future, I called Sony today and they were able to resolve the issue by resetting my HDMI input setting to 'enhanced'. Line gone!

Looks like "Overscan" to me. All TV signals have a specific frame and usually each TV displays a picture slightly less than the complete transmitted frame so you don't see any imperfections at the edge of the picture as not all cameras and signal processing are completely accurate where the actual end of the far edges of the frame is.

Many newer Televisions are great at displaying right to the very edge of the transmitted frame so you see "EVERYTHING" in the transmitted frame, even errors from the Camera or the signal processing. Usually you can adjust the Overscan in your TV's settings (to display slightly less than the Transmitted frame so you don't see any of these frame errors) although in some TV's it is hidden deep in the menus, or in a Special hidden Menu only for Technicians.

They did it, or they told you how to do it ?
How do they have control over your TV ?
On the TV go to setting --Look for Inputs --Select HDMI --then you will see Choices for Each HDMI TV input. Select Enhanced (in my Case HDMI-3 )

I have a 77 A80J Sony and see this white line intermittently as well on the 4k DTV channels. I have set my HDMI input to "enhanced" and it doesn't seem to do much. They white line will go away sometimes after a while though. I can see it now on channel 105 with the Browns and Broncos game.

Sorry to report that what I had thought fixed this 'white line' overscan issue did not. When I switched to HDMI 'Enhanced' it reset the Display on the Directv 4k genie lowering resolution to 1080 (which does not show the lines).

As soon as I enable 4k on the Directv display menu the line always returns. Have tried resetting, different HDMI inputs, 2 different cables, tried a different Directv Genie 4k box - I even had the television replaced for a different reason (I kept the same model Sony X90J). Still same bright white line.

So not sure where I will go from here. It certainly seems like the issue is signal related coming from the Directv genie and because I can't access or adjust the 'overscan' settings in the Sony TV I'm stuck with the line. Technology at times is a bummer.

Have you tested 4K from a Roku or PC or something?

If it still does it with another source then you probably need a adjustment in a service menu that can move the image to the right by a few pixels.

Yes, that's what strange - all other 4k on the Sony Bravia is fine from various Apps - even 4k VOD from Directv plays OK - it is just the dedicated 4k Directv channels that have the issue. So if there was a way to adjust the image on those Directv channels I think that would work.

For anyone else reading this, always set your HDMI inputs on a Sony to "Enhanced".

I would try calling Sony and explain the issue (let them know its on D*).

The one time recently that I needed Sonys help, they were very good for me.

I have the Sony 77” A80J and Directv with a 4K geni mini. I have the same white line described in this post on the right side on the 4K channels with 4K enabled on the DVR. Without 4K enabled, the line is gone and the tv is up-scaling. With 4K on, the line is present on the 4K stations. I tried - Settings, Channels & Inputs, External inputs, HDMI signal format, (selected HDMI input number that my Directv 4K DVR is using) and changed from Standard format to Enhanced format. This did not eliminate the line. As others have noted, the line is not there on 4K content from other sources, so this appears to be a Directv 4K interaction with Sony TVs. I did not have the issue with my Samsung 4K TV. Has anyone had this issue with a Sony using 4K from Dish or cable service?

I have the X90CJ from Costco and Directv. I've never seen any white lines on the screen.
