I believe the data on the hard drive is encrypted.

It is encrypted on the 522. However, he asked about the 510, whose HDD isn't encrypted. Scott, can you move this thread over to the regular DVR/PVR forum? I know there's a group at Yahoo! Groups devoted to legal hacking of 50x/510 HDDs, but I don't know it off the top of my head.
