I've been reading that all the HD content on 61.5 is mirrored on 129. That seems to be true when looking at http://ekb.dbstalk.com/61-5list.htm vs http://ekb.dbstalk.com/129list.htm. But I do not see that they Philadelphia HD locals are on 129. Looks like they are on 61.5 only. I just want to make sure before I add the second dish later today to point at 61.5.

I am fairly new and this is what my plan is. I just picked up a free Dish 500 with the Dish Pro Twin LNB. I currently have a Dish 1000 hooked up. I plan to take the Dish Pro Dual LNB off of my Dish 1000 that is currently pulling in 129 and put it in the place of the DP Twin LNB on the Dish 500. Then point the Dish500 at 61.5 and take the LNB out and run it into the same spot on my DP34 switch where the 129 was going from the Dish 1000. Do I need to go through with that hassle or is there a way to disable one of the LNB from the Dish Pro Twin?

That's what the installer did for me this morning. He had a 1000 on the truck as part of my 622 upgrade. After a short discussion, we decided to leave well enough alone, and he replaced the 'lens' on the 110/119 dish with a DPP with the feed for the 622.
My signal strengths range 87 to 98 across both dishes.

all national HD that is on 61.5 is also on 129 (exception is the CBS HD distant feed). HD locals are on 61.5 or 129

that will work just fine :) The DP Dual that is on the D1000 for 129 can be removed. If you hook that up to the D500 dish and aim it at 61.5 you can use your current setup.

Help!

Ok instead of removing the DishPro Dual LNB from my 1000, I just installed the Dish 500 with the DishPro Twin and hooked up the 119 cable to input three of my 34 swtich where the 129 was feeding in from my Dish 1000. I did not connect the 110 lnb output from the Dish500 to anything. In fact I disconnect the cable completely. Now when I look at check switch it shows :

1 2 3
119 110 Conn
All All X
Twin Twin Twin

On the point dish screen I change the satellite to 61.5 Transponder 11 and it just says wrong sat 119 West.

Any ideas?

Did you also try using the DP Dual on the 500 for 61.5?

http://www.dbstalk.com/ekb/Adding 61-5 dish.htm

Using a DP Twin on a D500 to get 61.5°
Set the skew of the D500 at 90 degrees so that the arm is not tilted.
Connect the DP Twin DIRECTLY to a receiver.
Cover the 110° side of the LNB with a piece of tin foil or thick cloth.
Set the elevation. Tune the dish.
Once you have the signal locked, connect the dish to your equipment. Remove the cover.
Run the check switch. It SHOULD show 4 locations with 1 as an X for signal and NC for sat (assuming you are connecting to a DP34. A DP21 should only "see" the 119° side to begin with).

I tried the trick described above with my dish pro twin and i couldnt get it to work. i just removed the disp pro dual from the my dish 1000 and installed that. that worked perfectly.
