Does The TV2 connection really downconvert to 4:3? I have a standard TV and have noticed shows I am watching or recorded in HD are still in widescreen format.

Yes, it downconverts widescreen to 4:3. Try flipping through the different formats (* button on the remote).

Technically speaking it is downconverted to 4:3 480i, displayed either as letterboxed or cropped depending on your usage of the * button.

In single mode, or using the SD TV1 outputs, it doesn't do either, it just mirrors the same formats as the HD outputs, which makes it a pain to watch on a standard 4:3 tv that doesn't have format controls.

I notice that TV2 in dual mode does not output 16:9 when cycling with the * button. But in single mode, I can use the uhf remote with TV1 and get 16:9 on my remote widescreen. What the flock?
